How do people feel about Tom Elliot taking on the role as president? I think he is smarter than his father and has a lot to offer the club. Would he be too influenced by his father? Anyway, just throwing it out there. ![]() |

Accidentally tuned into the Tom amd John Elliott show on 3AW this afternoon but not for long. No thanks. |

Tom tentatively put the feelers out there to join the board about two years ago...would love to see some more involvement at coterie level, but I think it's fair to say that Tom will focus on his career for the foreseeable future and perhaps have a role at board level before any talk of 'Presidential candidate' gets aired again. |

If I remember correctly, Tom did have a ticket but pulled out as soon as he knew Dick was going to come back to the club. At least Tom put his hand up when he knew the club needed an injection of some leadership. |

If he's well connected and a sensible thinker he'd be welcome on the board. |

Unlike his father at least Tom is still authorized to run a company. I gave him credit when he withdrew his ticket when Pratt came to the club, ensuring a smooth handover. Not for now, but maybe in the future... Sticks is fine by me. |

Just as John was a businessman of his heyday, Tom is the current gen; i.e. he has an understanding of morals, ethics and regulations. They might be father and son, but beyond their relatively high aptitude amongst their peers, they are chalk and cheese. Anyone who has watched more than 5 minutes of Tom on Inside Business would know this. Would absolutely like to have him in the mix. |

Well if he's good on "inside Business" he must be right to be president of the club. |

If you can put aside the fact that Jack is Tom's old man, what has Tom done wrong that preclude him from joining the board at the very least. ? Tom played no part in the crap the club went through. Don't sell this bloke short, I can't see why he wouldn't be an excellent addition to the board. |

I think any concern would stem from the possibility tha Tom would bring his old man back into the fold if made President. |

Perception is 80% of it. Tom would need to be far and away the most superior candidate in order to get the gig, given the baggage he carries thanks to his old man. It might not be fair, but not much in life is. |
