Hopefully they all make it to the final 22.

I think Gibbs has been unfairly overlooked. In my opinion he is a better player than Murphy.

Really, what is the purpose of publically announcing this squad?

I can't wait for All Australian Squad Member 20xx to be included in player honours...

WTF!!! !! ,,,,no Gibbs.

I rated Gibbs and Murphy's season on a par. How does one get in and not the other ???

officially confirmed the AA team is a load of bullshit !!!!!

Murphy was a lot better than Gibbs this season, although Gibbsy is finishing strongly.

I think they play quite different games. Gibbs would be close but I have no problem with him being in the top 40. He's definitely not far off it though.

Murphy's excellent goal kicking alone has been enough to place him in the top 40.

I think Gibbsy's been a little bit less consistent than Murph, and Murph's goal tally gives him the edge.

Remember though Bryce was bottom age and Murph is nearly 2 years older, his time is coming

People really forget just how young the Gibblet is

Judd and Fev are shoe-ins

I feel Murph will just miss out due to the number of strong midfielders from the top few teams.
If we were a top 2 team he'd be in there.
That is, he'll be in there next year for sure

Waitey unlucky as he was well on track before his injury

A couple of names surprised me in that list

Why is dane swan named as a forward? maybe they put in as a forward because he was not good enough to be a mid in the final squad. Murphy should be in as a forward before swan going by 30+ goals compared with 17 for swan...

I didn't see buddy doing anywhere near enough to be even considered for AA and yet Jobe Watson misses out?

Nick maxwell AA, you have got to be joking. Sure he is having his best year ever, but that doesn't mean that he is worthy of AA

I am a bit surprised that Stevie J was selected. I would have thought that you would need to have a least half a season at elite level to be selected.

Wow... That's not much of a list. Given the parameters, I pick these blokes:

FB: Mackie Lake Goddard
HB: Hargrave Scarlett Enright
C: Pendlebury Boyd Montagna
HF: Goodes Riewoldt (C) Chapman
FF: Le Cras Fevola Brown (VC)
R: Clark Judd Ablett

IC: Sandilands Murphy Sewell Vince

Emerg: Davis Hayes Gilbert Swan

>> Toss up between LeCras and Davis... Neon Leon was real hot for a while there, but scoreboard pressure wins out. LeCras was kicking them from everywhere.
>> Had a hard time picking two ruckmen from the three given. I thought Petrie was better than big H and Jolly better than them both.
>> I only picked Murphy because he was better than most of the other names given.
>> I get a stiffy looking at that forward line.
>> Brian Lake is the best fullback in the comp by a long, long way.
>> Can't believe I named a cry baby as captain of the All Australian team... but 20 wins is 20 wins.

I think Ablett and Montagna will be out of the gate early on Brownlow night with Judd, Swan and Goodes consistent, but missing in patches.... Ablett, Judd and Goodes tie on 21 votes.

If we were a top 2 team he'd be a much more complete player.

That's true.
But if we were a top two team would the deficiencies he may have be less obvious??

Pretty good selections there.

I agree with your point on Lake, he is the best fullback going around right now.

You would have to have a spot for Didak. He won a few games for Collingwood this year off his own boot. Probably put him on the interchange.

Selwood I would imagine would also make the All-Australian. He would probably take Pendlebury's spot.

The Bernie Vince possible selection is an interesting one. He pantsed Carlton on the weekend - so his credentials rise, but comparing him to Murphy is interesting.

Murphy - 563 possessions - 30 goals
Vince - 597 - 13 goals.

If Vince makes the team you would hope that Murphy also makes it - if only for his goal kicking. Murph deserves a spot on interchange I would think, but do they weight it heavily due to round 22?

Some fantastic replies....

wtf ?? No Campbell Brown?? The team needs someone who can bung on the histrionics on the boundary line and make hollow threats down the phone (after safely locking himself in the dunny) and still be the only one at the end of the day who hasn't left a fingerprint on the footy. It's a conspiracy I tell you
