Quote: CHANNEL 10 has conceded it erred by choosing this week's Carlton-Sydney clash as its marquee Saturday afternoon fixture.
With the Blues-Swans match looming as a low-scoring slog, Fox Footy has gleefully accepted the opportunity to screen the top-four battle between Richmond and West Coast live from the MCG. Under the TV rights deal, free-to-air Channel 10 has first pick of Saturday games, but must make its choice six weeks in advance. At the time Channel 10 made the call, the Blues were still looking highly competitive on the back of their Wizard Cup triumph. "Nine times out of 10 we get it right, but occasionally we don't," Ten's head of football David Barham said yesterday. Barham said all those in the media deal would prefer not to have to gaze into a crystal ball. "If the AFL wants to change their mind on the six weeks, go ahead," he said. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 42,00.html |

You can't really blame them for thinking that way.....who would've thunk at the start of the year Richmond would be travelling so well. |

They made the decision at Round 4 : Richmond was 3 wins 1 loss. Carlton was 1 win 3 losses. I reckon I would have made the right choice on those numbers. |

that report is pure shit (like I should be surprised by anything which comes out of the Hun.). Channel 10 HAVE to play the Sydney match live into Sydney. No ifs, buts or maybes. Therefore, it's easier for them to just play that match, rather than juggle 2 matches across the country in their programming. Get [REDACTED] News Ltd, Get [REDACTED] AFL! |

I was under the impression FTA was finalised at the start of the season, or at least that is what I was informed to earlier in the year. ![]() |

![]() That's the way the system worked when 7 had them. The system changed with the last set of media rights. Now, they decide in 6 week blocks, and then that's set. Plus the "broadcast into home territories" clause for Sydney, Brisbane, etc. |

They're all flower.............. How do these flower get jobs??? Ch 10 complaining????? They (at Telstra Dome and AFL) are throwing away tickets at the moment as they think there aren't going to be too many people there.????.... Hello... Carlton games averaging 35-40 thousand... Swans have the biggest Melbourne support base of any of the "interstaters" ...given that they are South Melbourne.... It's a walk up game...on a Saturday afternoon....at the Dome..weather forecast fine It's going to be packed.. It's going to rate it's socks off...in Melbourne and in Sydney... Telstar Dome will make a packet and everyone will be all over the place as they are 'giving' tickets away and saying it's a walkup game.... so what's the problem?? BUT Channel 10 must really be @#$%&! worried about it's rating in "Bunbury" ![]() Can we visit the crowd and ratings next week??? If I'm wrong I'll ask for a warning for imposing tripe on everyone here ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Actually, I think it will rate pretty well in Sydney, cos the Sydney bandwagon crowd will love to see them win. Hell, they'd pay to see the Swans beat the Eltham under-11's I just hope we ruin their weekend.... ![]() |

The quicker we stock our cupboards up with stock that has demand the quicker youll turn the club around in every way. If were a nothing team playing with nothing players.. for years the members will jump off the tv stations will jump off and the sponsors will jump off. The faster we get this club playing sexy footy by sexy footballers the faster we will be wanted. The longer it takes for us to bring these kind of players in the longer we will be crap in every way. The name Carlton means nothing... nor do the crowds we bring in the gates.. its about ratings.. we dont rate... we need champions.. we need elite talent... Thats why we have to swallow 2 or 3 more years of plain to come out the other side as a desirable product. Its not about living from day to day.. thats for North and the Bulldogs. Gets used to 3 years of pain..and then and only then will we see real golden times ahead. |

I've had 3 and a half years already Synbad. 2002, 2003, 5 x 20 goal thrashings in 2004 and 2005. I don't want 7 years of pain. |
