End of Round 22 2007 - trudging away from the "G" after being beaten by Dees in Kreuzer Cup - a young passionate Carlton supporting Dardew is really cross -sick of losing sick of seeing team capitulate - turns to the Old Frankie to give him a burst about being optimistic keeping the faith -"you told me they were going to be better this year" -they are just hopeless you having been saying that for years -its never going to change" No amount of discussion at that time about it wasnt a matter of winning that game or talking about the bigger picture or discussing how the good times will be even better because of the bad times being so grim could console the young Dardew Turn the clock forward 24 months On Saturday Old Frankie and the same young Dardew and a slightly Older Dardew are flying up to Brisbane to see OUR team the Old Dark Navy Blues play their first final in 8 years We should all be celebrating the re-birth of the Blues -Isnt it great that today this week inside of looking at other teams de-listings hoping for a hidden gem or talker about ridiculous trades we are concentrating on playing in the finals GO BLUES ps a tip for Grand Parents and Parents NEVER say it doesnt matter where the next final is played we are going - THEY REMEMBER |

Yeah I can see how it would be tough for those who haven't been through a full cycle and just seen 2002-07. For those amongst as who have seen more know what we did to get there and what we needed (and still need) to do to get back to where we belong. I begun doing interstate trips in 2002 of all years, and have thus far only seen us win once on the road (WC last year), so let's hope for no. 2 on Sat night |

It's funny I'm married to a Bomber supporter ![]() The family (which is now grown to four with the inclusion of a Baby Bomber in 2003 ![]() A success that I was so familiar with, and almost took for granted as a kid, had until now eluded my young bloke. Making the finals shouldn't be dismissed or even treated with the contempt many have of us just making up the numbers. We are there - we are a chance, and although unlikely this year we are so far into a long long long journey that everyone associated with this amazing club should be proud of what has already been achieved this season. Making the finals isn't the end of the journey its just the start of the next one. Go Blue Boys! |

it's been a long, hard sell for my Little Willies...looking at me in disbelief that you could ever be happy supporting Carlton. My youngest told me he hung in there because he didn't want to make me sad... Now they are as passionate as I am and are bleeding that after all this club been through - three clowns pulled their stunt and now the Carlton faithful can't be there this weekend. But they'll be first in line the weekend after this one!! |

Y'know I'm fully aware that we haven't played finals for 8 years... but the scale of how long those 8 years have been didn't hit home as hard till I read from some of our younger posters (think it was seanpb or teen spirit) saying they pretty much endured the entire of their high school years while Carlton was crap. Imagine that!! ![]() ![]() So this week I have my fingers crossed for the young dardew and all our younger supporters who have kept the Faith through the dark years. The payoff is coming and y'all will get a taste of that magical "Carlton feeling" that many of us are familiar with come Finals Time!! Carlton's back where we belong baby!! Here's hoping the Blueboys bring home a victory for you guys especially!! ![]() ![]() Awesome post Frank!!! |

I for one are part of the youth. - Never have seen Carlton play in a final. - Around the age of 10 was when i realised that i am a supporter of Carlton Football Club and started following it with a passion. - That was around 2001, the start of our dark years. - Ive seen all the doom and gloom that came within those years. I have never really experienced what its like to be in the top 8, the upper half of the ladder. - A fair few times pre 2008, i wondered why our team? why cant we enjoy the finals? why cant we be a part of it all? why cant we be a successful team? - The articles, the end of season reports, the pre-season reports (always fell for those ones..), the bagging/laughs/punchlines/whatever you call it in the school yard, the 100 point losses, the optimisim that fizzled out when we got a so called 'valuable recurit' pre 2005 only to see the player dropped from our list within 2 years and i cant forget the opposition supporters. - They all hurt, each and every one of them, each and every comment, each and every thing uttered about the once mighty navy blues. But I was a navy blue supporter and i still am, a little bruised but its all healing now. So this weekend, we have our first final since 2001.. Regardless of what happens, We are back. ![]() --- P.S. there was a reason i mentioned im in my youth, try to excuse my grammar and whatnot ![]() |

We have a great chance this week but win or lose, I'll be back at the hotel having a beer toasting the journey thus far. See you there !! |

Nah sorry, I think I would prefer to keep calling for the coach to be sacked and crucify the players all the time |
