He seems to have copped a fair bit of criticism for the 8 clangers. However, I thought it was really encouraging that he found the ball at ease (30 touches) and covered the ground so well, he really does have an excellent motor and good ball carrying pace and ability.

I think, assuming he goes on with it, he and Russell will be two big pluses to emerge from 2009 for the Blues. Both have good height for mids/flankers, both have mongrel about them, both are starting to find the ball with ease, and both are quick and can run and carry and take the game on.

Almost every player who has had decent disposal, and especially the improvers like Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Russell (improver and Walker had some shocking turnovers.

One aberrant match I'll forgive from all.

It's the trends of disposal and form which tell a more accurate story.

From an impartial point of view he was unreal  !

Seriously though, other than the two @#$%&! ups in the first quarter he was ok.
Be aware,4 frees against count as four clangers.

I'm just wrapped to see him running around again in the Blues jumper after all the shocking injury troubles Tex has encountered in his "young" life!!!
Watch out for 1AW ripping the finals apart

Better for the run :thanks: .

He had to start somewhere and he'll get better. Getting the finals experience is crucial if he's going to be part of the next 5-10 years.

Keep an eye on his left foot disposal.

He may not be the equal of Akermanis just yet, but for a bloke that's supposed to be a dud kick, he's actually not too shabby.

Sacrilege it may be to compare him to the following two guys, but Didak and Davis took a while to mature into reliable contributors. I see AW's career path taking a similar route. We just have to give him game time and hope he can remain fit. To me, that is his only concern. I have complete faith in his talent and the massive upsides it has for our list.

:smoking:

Brilliant work there DOA, thanks for clearing that up.

I think 1AW is about the really show the footy community why he went at #2.

I don't think there's much point rating players, especially ones coming back from long absences due to injury, like Walker on one match.

I think Walks has been really good, if not stellar, in the matches he's played since returning.

..a few dodgey disposals were more to the last couple of cobwebs getting dusted away, he's had a severely interrupted past two seasons, and the cows turned the screws on every bloody player.. ..when there's mass confusion and high intensity pretty much every player will have their quota of dodgey disposals, that's how you get pumped by 12 goals.. ..so i don't think they were skill errors per-se', i think he's actually managed to improve with all his forced time off.. ..and i know he's a touch fitter than Juddles, but coming into the season as late as he has, he's truckloads in front of everyone fitness wise, definately far far fresher than most he'll be playing opposite of.. ..should be let off the leash..!!..

I think any assessment of AW's form/performance for the club should be after he has been back in the team for at least 12 months - he has missed a LOT of footy. If he returns back to peak form sooner then great - otherwise, walker's game should be assessed in sept 2010

Really want to see Walks up forward in combination with Fev,Kruez,Betts,Yarran and Garlett. Waitey to roam all over the ground Adam Goodes style.

Really suprised to see he had 30 odd possesions on the weekend. That's amazing considering how much footy he has missed and how cautiously he is playing....

It is a little worrying the way he contests with one arm though.....I hope he doesn't damage his good shoulder now with the extra workload it gets.

Great to see him back, and hopefully he starts flying for those big grabs again one day....

Absolutely agree. The guy has basically been out of the game for two years. So relax and cut him a lot of slack...

Probably the worst 30 disposal game I've ever seen to be honest.
