What? No Lawrence Angwin?

Also a bit rough on Hickmott, Allan, Murphy, Beaumont, Franchina, Lappin, Whitnall, Hulme and Fletcher who all played in good Carlton sides (all exept Hulme and Frankie played in the 99 Prelim - the greatest non GF win in our History)

I was sure that I had added him. I guess I wiped him from my memory!

Maybe it was just my naivety but I remember being seriously disappointed when we traded Massie for Eccles.

I would have been about 12 or so at the time, but I couldn't then, and still can't, get my head around that trade.

As said, was I mistaken in thinking Massie could have been a good player for us? I remember being saddened when he broke his leg, and not remembering a whole lot of him in navy blue after that.

Makes you wonder why we've been where we have, doesn't it?!

I mean - the draft penalties are undoubtedly to blame, but if you then look at the above recruiting...

I liked Kenna, saw him do some really good things in his short time at the club - had a teriffic burst of speed.

Then I realised that he was only a prototype of Eddie Betts. And really you can only have one of those players
in the team at any given time.

That's my take.

Very unlucky with injuries. Cracked his eye socket in 2000 and then broke his leg in 2001 and was traded. They weren't exactly injury prone type injuries though, it wasn't that his body was unsound, they were just terrible collisions. That's what made the trade so puzzling, a pick 7 overall that had spent 3-4 years in the system traded for an average player at best? I was just as bemused with the Nelson/Gallagher trade that went along for the ride. Nelson wasn't a bad player, Gallagher was simply terrible.
