Its not about tackles and contested possession.

Would like to see some stats for metres gained running from stoppages.

Wallace built a side of DHS over 5 years. He created the Australian womens winter olympic squad - Tambling, Deledio, Raines, Jackson etc etc - this is HIS legacy      .

Wallace talking about football is the same as Paris Hilton talking about astrophysics, except Paris probably knows more about the subject than Terry.

I've got no love for Terry, but i'd like to see people argue his point rather than attack the man.

Attacking him doesnt make what he says any more or less valid.

Our weakness this year has been midfield defensive pressure. We can't carry that may players who don't chase and harass. I think its a big wake up call for everyone that if you want to be a power team these are the things that make a difference. Its defensive pressure for 120 min every round, 22 rounds per year. That has to be the next project over summer

Considering wallets mastered the art of compiling a team full of DHS, he is definitely qualified to identify a team when they are playing in that fashion!
Having said that, he was right on mark on Saturday. If it wasn't a game where our objective of winning might not have been as strong as a normal week (not sure, just guessing) I would be fuming over that performance because it was disgraceful. :hitcomputer:

I'm sure they'll be working on that Buzz, you can never be content with just winning a few games as Richmond obviously were.

If you look at that particular game and the players he's named - I'm not at all surprised they didn't waste their fuel to save the game. We were always better off letting the game go than busting our arse to get a final against a side that's touched us up a couple of times this year.

But going back to what Terry said, he's just clarrified on radio that he WAS in fact referring to the Carlton side all season not just that one game as KB tried to spin. That being the case, you could make the same argument for StKilda against North, Hawthorn all year, Geelong against us, Dogs against Eagles, Collingwood against us etc etc.

Terry's just trying to put food on the table by being a flog - and doing a superb job, too.

he was talking about one game, and having watched that game it'd be hard to say he was off the mark

I agree 100% with Wallace. Just take a look at the Brad Symes goal.

Adelaide ran the ball out of defence through Goodwin and McLeod, with Yarran and Fev chasing.

The ball came to Mackay who then handballed to a player running through the corridor. Gibbs did a useless bump on an almost stationary Mackay instead of running back to put pressure.

After a chain of handballs through the corridor, the ball ended up with Symes who goaled on the run from 50. While this was all happening Stevens was casually jogging back on our right HF flank and Judd on the other (both were in empty space and were completely pedestrian), Scotland was WALKING (yes, walking!) on the wing and instead of running into the corridor to apply pressure, he raised his arms in the air and whinged.

As usual, it was Kade Simpson who had to run back and chase and he had some help from Browne but their efforts were futile.

This LAZINESS MUST CHANGE!!

terry is a douche , no doubt about it, but he has a great point. i was watching juddy and murph closely sat and i even said it to the people i was with that goin the other way they just dont do antything. i love both players dont get me wrong and they are our 2 best players but terry is right.
this is how i see it teams just waltz through the center and this has been happening all year, so someone isnt that defensive

Juddy and smurph sometimes may find it hard to be defensive as they are always being mounted

I'm not trying to make excuses for them.........

On the same token no matter how good you are you always have an opponent and must be accountable for him/them.

We can sit here and analyze whatever we like but unless we are out there with these guys we dont really know how they are told to play or what they are told to do.

Well, if he's talking about 1 particular game (which I don't believe he was) then he is corrcet. Then he'd need to analyse why given both Murphy and Judds nominations for AA after the outstanding years they've had.

I'd suggest with finals coming up and no great advantage to win, it's no surprise that they laid back a bit.

Ratten should have just scoffed and said "next question!".
