Disastrous result. Played right into their hands - knew we were in trouble when it turned into a shootout. The ultimate football lesson. Leaked like a sieve - hard to blame the backmen, Adelaide's freedom through the midfield was frightening. |

we gotta stop conceding behinds; the goal that enevitably follows the kick-out is costing us. |

Not enough midfield depth and a ridiculously poor defensive aspect through the middle = recipe for disaster! ![]() |

If ever there was a time to not put a defeat on the autopsy table this is it. Crows were just too good today. We need to dust ourselves off, put this one behind us and start focusing on next week. ![]() |

Adelaide weren't trying to teach us anything. It is in our hands if it is to become a 'lesson' or not. ![]() |

I think Ratts should have moved Wiggo or Russell into the midfield after the second quarter. They were bigger, stronger, harder and more determined than us - and it was all too easy for them. Not too many positives to come from it. Fev's got his set-shot mojo back, and that's about it. |

WE played a poor defensive game in the midfield. Poor work rate and disposal, poor defensive pressure. Backline were midgets compared to the Crows. The first issue was partly due to Hadley not being there and secondly because we did not come to play. Soft and lazy performance. Also the lack of KPP's in the backline is now haunting us with both Jamo and Wait out. We can beat a side like Brisbane if we bounce back ands show some cohones and effort. But I think thats about it. Looks to me that its not just Betts, Garlett and Cloke who thinks just making the finals is good enough and are relaxing. Seems clear that the team has relaxed as soon as they knew we made the 8. Also lazy last week but against a very poor opponent and who still kicked far too many goals against us. We only stand a chance in the finals if we get some spirit and work ethic back into the team - not sure it isn't already too late and even if we change the attitude the lack of height in the back could kill us anyway. I am very disappointed if we end the season on a whimper. |

Today was a mini-final and we came up against a well drilled - battle hardened team. I can't fault the endeavour or the attempts to run and carry the ball but skill errors and decisions were amateurish. We really couldnt get much worse The 3 sleepers in should really take a hard look at themselves |

Came up against a team who are more experienced, have bigger bodies and have been under a gun coach for 4+ years. Their concentration when it came to zoning was magnificent and their ball movement was also very good. They forced us to bomb long to Kreuzer from kickouts and when they won the ball at half back had the runners and good decision makers through the middle to give easy ball to their forwards. I counted 6 goals to Adelaide as a result of us not being able to bring it out of defence. JR made some clangers however you at least have to give him some credit for trying to run the ball out of there. Continually bombing and hoping to win the crumb isn't going to get you anywhere. It wasn't helped by the poor defensive efforts from our midfield. Early in the game I thought we applied good pressure at half forward and this resulted in a few goals however this pressure dropped off as the game went on. Whenever they won the ball at a stoppage they would spread pretty hard however we didn't appear to want to chase. Few times at centre bounces the sweeper who I think it was Browne or someone else would get drawn towards an Adelaide player who was about to give the ball off, so it was then flicked over the top and the Adelaide player receiving it would run straight at goal with no pressure. At marking contests we appeared to get it wrong a lot of the time when it came to how many players went up to spoil and how many waited for the crumb. We didn't have the crumbers up forward for obvious reasons but all over the ground we had too many up and none waiting for the crumb. |
