You wouldn't want to lose him, but if he's that highly sought after, it augurs well for us for the work he has already done.

If they want him im not settling for anything less than picks 1,2,3,4,5,7,9,11 and 13

If they are not happy with it GC17 can piss off!

Was it Melvey or BO who criticised Icke?

Wouldn't imagine Dean Laidley knows much about player contracts...if Icke is not driven by dollars alone - he'll stay.

Apparent tension between coach and Stephen Icke, football operations general manager, should be addressed when the season is done. If it cannot be massaged, then more drastic action might be required.

Does Patrick Smith read TC?

Did he post as Melvey?

Nice article by Patrick
He is way off the mark with the Icke rumour though-- there have been some disagreements but nothing out of the ordinary.

Can someone please elaborate on the general theme of these disagreements?

It is the timing and the possible repercussions that make Carlton's decision this week so impressive. Winning is not everything, but discipline and respect is. Only excellence and professionalism in all things will be tolerated at Carlton now. In that sense, the Blues are not coming but have arrived.

Might have been some tension regarding disciplining of senior players towards the middle of the season.. seems the old "professional relationship" is pretty stable at this stage though..
Still, wouldnt be surprised to see Icke leave if he gets a good enough offer.

It's more about what he's doing now in managing the contracts that will ensure our success down the road...I for one would hate to lose him now - although I suspect the contract planning to a large extent has been done with regard to back-end contracts of Fevola, Gibbs, Murphy, Judd, Johnson, Scotland and Warnock. To lose him to GC17 I could handle...to lose him to another code, I could not.
