Geelong don't look to be on song.

St.Kilda is St.Kilda

When our intensity is up we can beat the rest I reckon.

Thoughts?

Simple answer is yes. We are one of the form teams in the comp, along with Collingwood.

More complex answer is that we would have to be switched on for the whole month, on field and in the coaches box. We'd also have to have a good run with injuries.

I know we have the personnel and skills to be able to match and beat the "best" teams in the competition, it's just a matter of whether we put it all together on the day.

If we had Waite and Jamison I would be comfortable of matching teams in the finals, but without them not sure. Many things would have to go right.

Worried about Collingwood, more than anyone else.

You never know what's going to happen in September

I wrote this on another around three weeks ago...

As we approach the finals, I reckon both St.Kilda and Geelong will be fairly vulnerable. IMO, the reasons are

* St.Kilda has not got the perfect run home, as they play North and Melbourne in the last two rounds of the year and then they will most likely win their first final and have a two week break. By the time they will play in their prelim final, I believe that they will not be match fit. - If that makes sense

* Geelong has got several injury concerns and by the time they will have their strongest team at on the park it will be finals time. They will also win their first final and have a two-week break and again they wont be match fit

* Carlton is a long shot to go pass the second week of the finals but I'm still optimistic. I believe the team we had against North last week was our best team (give and take out one or two players) and from now and until the finals I reckon we will be match fit as we play Geelong, Port and then Adelaide. If Carlton manages to keep the same team out on the park until seasons end, I reckon we could be a chance in September.

Let's just worry about winning Week 1 first. We're likely to be playing the Hawks or Essendon* and they will be tough opponents.

If we get through that, then we can start to think about taking the lid off...

I will be extremely nervous if we play Essendon*. They will want retribution from 10 years ago. We'll never hear the end of it then.

Rexy... I don't even know you. Least you could do is butter me up with a drink or two...

oh.. you meant Carlton winning the flag..... I guess anything can happen. Will depend on whether we step up to the intensity. One thing in our favour, is that we have stepped up against the better sides when we have been the underdog this year. Biggest test will be the first week when we will probably go in as favourites. Win that and who knows...

If we had waitey, jamo and a fit hammer i would be confident that we could go past the first week and maybe even the second who knows.

But as we all know finals are a different ball game altogether and anything could happen.

Anything..............

We would have to be at the top of our game for a month. Due to having to work to get into the finals we havent been able to do heavy training loads as to prepare for the finals as Saints Cats and Dogs have all done.

Hopefully we can give it a shake.

We might shake things up but no...our backline is depleted and inexperienced as is our whole team when it comes to finals.

Anything can happen yes, but it would be a miracle if we won the flag, and we still might end up playing in Brisbane in week 1, so let's keep a lid on it and focus on winning a final first.

Can't see us going all the way with our 1st choice FB (Jamo), 1st choice CHB/CHF (Waite), and 1st choice in-and-under (Hads) all missing from the team.

Hoping to win at least one final though. The experience will be invaluable for our future premiership campaigns.

GO BLUES!!!

Our record against top 8 teams this year is one of the best in the comp. Geelong, Brisbane X 2, Bulldogs, (albeit undermanned) Collingwood have all fallen to us, as well as us pushing Saints to the brink for the first time. Our boys seem to lose their fear when playing teams more favoured, and this is what we'll be counting on for September.

So yes, we are capable of going all the way, but we're also capable of bombing in week 1.

Also, the importance of this week's game cannot be overstated. We're a bit lucky, in that our last game for the season will be like a final in all but name.

I said the same thing to Bernadette Tuohey in year 9.

10 years ago? They've got all of 2 or 3 players from that era.
The current crop carry none of that.

That said though...
I will be nervous too and hope our boys come out after that last Essendon* beating and issue some serious punishment. Essendon* or Hawks, we have enough reason from recent games with them to want to make them pay. Our team has more to play for, more to prove from a pay-back incentive. They must win.
