Nathan Buckley has written one of the better assessments I've seen of Carlton this year - if he can translate his playing talents, insights and communication ability to coaching, the Pies will be in very good hands. Another reason to regret John Elliott's arrogance.

I think he might be just a touch bullish on our prospects for this year, but it's a good read, and got me a little excited in the pantal region

Hmmmm..well I can almost forgive him for the interminable use of two of the most offensive words in AFL commentating...
namely..OFFence and DEEfence.##$%@
yankee speak go home.(no OFFence intended)
and...oh yeah..take your quarterback..and your shots ON goal while you're at it. :banghead: :hitcomputer:
Nice article though.

Wasn't it Nathan who was saying a few weeks ago that we were still a long way off with our list and that Essendon* were way ahead of us...?

My brother attending a luncheon during the week which Buckley was a guest of. Someone from his work (in discussion) asked Buckley of all teams which does he think has the most potential to which he replied Hawthorn and Essendon*.

GET RID OF RATTEN AND GET SOMEONE TO LEAD THIS CLUB THAT HAS SOME INKLING OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND HOW ITS DONE

And now we're a threat in the finals...

Who would have thunk it?

Buckley is smart and his hedging his bets, if Carlton crash and burn he can claim he predicted it on Channel Seven, if we win a final he can claim he knew it all along by this rubbish article in The Age.

I personally reckon he is giving the Blues the evil eye, and lavishing praise on us but really wishing and hoping that Carlton are rubbish. A bit like that trophy head Hird did to us (successfully) in Round 3.

But its still less bananas than his Joel Selwood is the best player or midfielder or whatever in the competition from last week. :donk:

He's clearly learnt a lot from Mike Sheehan

Buckley hasn't said anything which hasn't been said before. Especially about the gulf between our best and worst.

The article isn't particularly insightful.

He writes for The Aged, so clearly he has learnt from Caro and Gazza Don.

99% of the "commentators" are useless and lazy. Their opinions change from week to week.

Yeah, but he's spent a lot of time with Mike through various media commitments. The master of the flip-flop is our ol mate Mike.
