Ok guys round 21 i know we havent seen much of yarran both on and off the field but who would you rather in the team?

I'm all for garlett. Great pressure, run, kicking just needs to bulk up a lil but will be all class in a few years

Stupid thread. Why can't we have both? Why play off two CARLTON players against each other?

Agreed, why not both? They're different types of players, which is a great thing. One is a feisty, aggressive tackle-minded dynamo, the other a smooth-moving classy deliverer with the ball in hand.

In finals type pressue Garlett wouldn't get a touch. He's too light

Today was no bruise junk and honestly he had nobody on him for most of the goals he kicked.

If in 1-2 years we're still comparing between Garlett and Yarran then the recruiters have screwed up big time

dont agree. garlett will eventually play up the field more and his workrate is fantastic. if yarran can get his workrate anywhere near garletts we will have two top players for the next decade. all positive as far as i can see.

I think Yarran is probably stronger overhead. 'snip'

Or conversely they were damn good picking up Garlett in the rookie draft, depends which way you look at it I guess.

Why can't we use both eventually?

I absolutely loved the way Garlett played off of Fevola today. We haven't had that in a long, long time.

I believe both offer different enough skills that long-term they'd both mix in well if they develop the way we hope.

Garlett was great but he was matched up on Cale Morton and killed him for pace and agility.

Will get more suitable opponents in the future.

Garlett isn't too light to play finals, that's rubbish. Recent history is littered with small fast players being successful.
He had noone on him for the goals he kicked because he attacked the pack at speed and read the footy off hands so well that his man couldn't stay with him.
Credit where it's due please.

..agreed, no reason why Garletto couldn't play finals, Rioli isn't any bigger/heavier and he played his role last season finals time.. ..often the lighter types are used to playing around bigger blokes their entire career and just know how to position themselves.. ..he's a young kid that plays 'pressure' footy.. ..he hassles when he doesn't have the ball, and plays with speed when he's got the ball.. ..works great with Edwardo under Fev's feet..

..in regards to the whole gar/yaz comparison.. ..i reckon they'd play different roles, either way Gar's adapted to the pace/needs of AFL, and Yaz is still settling in.. ..can't see a spot for Yaz come finals.. ..just hasn't adapted, likewise i can't see a spot for Knockers either for the same reason.. ..you can't bring in players into a finals series with the whole 'cross yer fingers and hope they go well' approach.. ..neither are finals ready, and only injuries to the players above them will see them get a finals game..

..and how -sharp- did Garletto look.. ..bloody ripper.. ..just needs to bring that back suave little mo' & goatee..

You know who I saw flashes of when I saw Garlett roving around Fev?

As much as it pains me to say it, Gavin Wanganeen.

Small, light, fast, skilled, balanced.

We'd be extremely fortunate if Jeffrey turned out half as good.

OK, I'm going to wash now, I feel dirty.
