Shirley did his hamstring in the Crows win over the Eagles so it looks like Doughty will run with Judd.

Hope we get Hampson back - we have struggled the past two weeks in the middle without him there.

Our ball movement inside 50 will be tested even with Bock out injured. Rutten, Otten and Stevens still work very well together and they could launch a lot of attacks from our 50 if we kick it to one on threes or don't apply enough pressure at ground level.

Maybe JR on Porplyzia...has the speed to go with him but I'm not sure about the football smarts at ground level...not many can compete with Porp there though.

Agree with the point about JR at ground level, which is why his form in defence has surprised me. So long as that isn't exposed, I'm more than happy to have his run and carry from HB.

He was brilliant at times today; it's like he doesn't feel the lactic build-up until 250 metres into a sprint.

EDIT: *shakes fist at cheap keyboard*

Yeh he was excellent. Did his defensive job and then linked up. Actually showed some of the pace some thought he didn't have. Made good decisions and his disposal was good. Only error really was the poor kick to Bower which resulted in Jurrah's goal.

Bower deserved the poor disposal though; today he was constantly handballing and kicking when off-balance and his team mates suffered for it.

...sorry but isn't that usual?

Not knocking JR, think he's tops.

Structure

Coherent game plan

Set plays

Knowing where to run and who to play through

Kick outs

Forward 50 structure

Will be big issues against a side coached to robot like efficiency

I would be happily shocked and impressed if we could pull this off. The 'reward' would be a final against Essendon* *shudder*

I'm not sure we can beat them. No matter how well we play against more free-flowing sides, against tough, disciplined sides with rock-solid structures we always encounter more difficulty. Adelaide are a real bogey side for us also. Fingers crossed, if we win it'll be huge.

Big game for the club...... Having the bye today will test our players next week.. The crows will hit the man hard.....

Win, 5th is ours, lose and we could drop to 7th and have to go to Brisbane first up (providing they win the next 2 games)

If we play the same game plan like today we are gone... Flooding back and running forward won't with the crows...

And hopefully less people want to go to Costco as well, traffic was a nightmare today..

We couldn't ask for a better hitout before September

Win and the boogie man might be off the back, confidence high.
Lose and who knows..

Best result lions lose tonight and next week result doesn't matter... both teams get home finals....

Hopefully Brisbane losses tonight againts Port so that we could tank next week against Adelaide. Rather vs Brisbane at home than a rampaging Essendon* at the G - not a good thing. We just don't match up well against them plus they have confidence over us. With Brisbane, shut down Black Power and Brown, win the game.

Fine in theory, but if we're fair dinkum, there is a point where you have to find a way to beat teams you match-up on poorly.

Normally I'd agree with you. But Essenscum man, their only reason for existing is to cause us pain and what better occasion than our first finals match in 8 years

If Port win tonight then Adelaide won't have much incentive to win next week.....they wouldn't want to come 5th and have a home final against the Power. They'd probably prefer 6th and play Brisbane at AAMI.

W. T. F. is wrong with Port? 10 goal opening quarter FFS!

Now this is a game I'm interested in, but unless Virgin Atlantic have the game on the plane I'll miss it.

Massive test for where we are at, and a huge mental game for our players.

Let's bring it!!

When was the last time you did about 250 metres (well over the field length) of sprints inside a minute?

When he gets going, JR's repeat efforts are amazing.
