The strut is back & I am walking around loud and proud. If you had of said that in 2009 this was the script, I would have taken it hands down. We are young, we are still making dumb choices, we let the little things kill us, I swear, I carry on, I get frustrated, BUT WE ARE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A FINALS CAMPAIGN.

The years of agony, teasing, taunting, heart break are a distant memory. We are playing Finals football again. The stars have aligned, the gods have smiled, the world is once again as it should be. Our beloved club is back where they belong, and I am srutting around Melbourne.

The bounce is back in my step, the smile on my face is bold, the clouds have lifted, all that counts is finals footy and WE ARE PLAYING FINALS FOOTY IN 2009. My sad memories seem distant, the endless bleak seasons seem to be further away in my memory, in 3 weeks time, we will all be holding our tickets that allow us entry into the games that count.

From week 1, the gloves are off, the past means nothing, we are Carlton & we demand respect, we expect excellence and we love to shine on the big stage. Bring on anyone, I no longer care, the culture that was once missing seems to be boiling over to fever pitch. The players can taste it, the board can taste it, the members & supporters can taste it, everyone else can see it, they are realising that the beast is awakening. Rejoice my firends, remember where we have been, what we have copped, enjoy the next 3 weeks, suck it up and soak it in.

Come the the first week in September, WE ARE THERE, the 22 rounds before means shit, lets cause carnage, lets break hearts, lets play with passion, heart & guts. WE ARE CARLTON, @#$%&! THE REST, we are no longer coming, we have arrived!

GO BLUE BOYS.

Nice post Melanie.

On the right of your keyboard, between the \ and Shift keys, is the enter key.

Paragraphs make it WAY easier to read.

So I've fixed it for you.

Ok...I like a nice passionate post, but is it alright to be a Carlton supporter, who has gained a little humility from the dark years?
Is it ok to ,,,you know spring but not strut....or...ummm...whistle quietly but not yell and be obnoxious.... err...well the more I write this the more ridiculous it looks...
I guess you are either all in...or you are all out

I just hum the song in my head when walking the Tan at lunch time. Definitely puts a spring in the step and a smile on the dial!

its all well and good, but im afraid ive never lost 'the strut' lol

I was a prick to my mates during the dark years, made them hate carlton even more because every week we won i'd say we're the best, and every week we lost it was either tanking or goldspink's fault. . I gave as good as i got. . . fev winning a coleman helped my cause alot. . .and tat sydney, port, west coast, and brisbane were the top teams over past 8years or so meant that few/no victorian teams had any success, so my mates' teams copped it from me with the 'we got draft picks, you just got dissappointment from this year' line.

Then we got judd. . .no-one heard the end of it. . .still havent :p

Imagine how much of an annoying s.o.b i am now lol

More importantly, I can sense it coing back ON field also..........Scotland giving it to Bogan, the other boys getting into him before and after the game, just general body language as well. Confidence is priceless.

I think you mean "The Scum". Even though they're just as filthy as "The Filth", who in turn are as scummy as "the Scum", so I can see where the confusion arises

My feet have just about forgotten their muscle memory, but I have had the odd spontaneous hop and shimmy today - caused some consternation in today's meetings

If we start winning finals, I will be leaving consternation all over the place, along with a "WE'RE BACK BITCHES!" every 30 seconds or so. :donk:

I have been saying for past 2 years that the beast is awakening.... Will collect on some large bets that we would play finals this year. Now finals is not enough. Win one, win them all! This year just about any of the top 8 could win the big one on the right day, but they don't have Juddy or Fev or Murphy or Gibbs or Kruizer or Simmo or Bower or Thornton or Setanta or Russell or Eddie ............ The list is getting longer! :)

Look for a sudden spurt of growth for the fast maturing blues during the finals.

Dont be concerned if there is a loss against Adelaide.

They will talk us down in the press, but it will only serve to strengthen our resolve for the following week.

Nothing of course is certain - especially in football - but in our case, if we see a rapid improvement in Carlton from here on in - a flag looms near.
