Just tried to book tickets to the Carlton V Melbourne game as i'm flying in from Perth to watch it.

This is the best tickets that Ticketmaster came up with:

Quote:
Section L3 42
Row B
Seats 45 - 44
Description PRICE CATEGORY THREE (XP3)
LEVEL 3

Looking at the seating Map, it looks like these tickets are next to the scoreboard, which would have impaired vision, I would think.

Having only been to the Dome once, WTF is going on with ticketing? This game wouldn't nearly be sold out would it? Will better tickets go onsale soon?

Thanks for any help.

Row B is the next up from the fence on level 3. In other words you'll have decent seats without a doubt. Levels 1 and 2 will be for club members, medallion club members and Access One ticket holders.

The majority of the top deck will be General admin.

I wouldn't bother booking tickets and just rock up early on the day.

Want good tickets, not any tickets.... but any tickets may have to do! It's a long way to fly to just rock up and have crap seats!

Don't book tickets on level 3, if you have to sit on level 3 just sit in general admin. Just keep checking for tickets once or twice a day. Eventually they should open up some more seats on level 1...I would like to think so anyway. I've had similar problems this year, the ticketing for game is a joke - its not first in best dressed as it should be.

The trouble with booking by phone is that the ticketing agencies only release tickets in blocks. Where you want to sit is not necessarily where the agency will release tickets first. And they often can't even tell you if the area you want will be release pre-game. It can take a lot of time logging on to the web, a bit of luck and nerves of steel to hold out for your preferred tickets. :hitcomputer:

And one other benefit of arriving early if you don't have a reserved seat ticket, is that you will avoid the slow queue at the ticket window that occurs close to game time.

But you would have to think that being a Melbourne game they are not going to sell all tickets out?

yibbida do you just want two seats?

If you're coming from Perth splash out on tickets for Level 2. It's a great place to watch footy.

someone just kindly PMd me to let me know that they think that good tickets will be hard to get, so the ones you were offered yibbida are probably not too bad.

Or as champion says:

I would imagine if tickets are hard to get, it is because 43K+ Carlton members will be in attendance at a 55K capacity ground.

I had a similar experience of this buying Wallabies tickets when they played Italy in Canberra a few weeks ago. The Ticketek site had tickets available in areas that made it look like the game was a sell out, or very close to. As the game got closer better seats got released and, here's the killer, quite a lot of the seating which was allocated at premium pricing had become downgraded to lower pricing. Of course, all this happened after I had been rushed into buying tickets. In the end there were about 5000 seats left empty as well.

Actually, same thing happened for the tickets to the Swans game in Sydney too. I bought tickets in an area I didn't really want, but we were taking mrs camel's young nephew and wanted confirmed seating. The seats in the better areas I had me eye on became available after I had bought.

I think Caz's theory is best. I've watched a couple of games from the upper level at the Dome and I reckon it's actually pretty good. Although I do prefer watching from an elevated position so you can get a better feel for the players and their movements.

They wont all turn up for this game, no chance in hell.

Id say you would easily get tickets on the day, maybe rock up a bit earlier to be safe, but you will be fine.

For the times I can get to go and take the family I always get seats on Level 2. Being a silver member its about $100 bucks extra all up for 2 adults and 2 children a game.

Only problem and I just checked then is that I can never get seats on level 2 until the Thursday or Friday before the game, I can get level 1 or level 3 now no problems but I want seats on level 2 damm it...

Can somebody who has a couple of minutes try who is a member can try and see if you can get seats on level 2.
I've tried as AFL/club member, access-one and enter my card info but no luck for seats on level 2.

Was trying to get Level 2 seats! That's the problem! Ticketbastard says there is none available! Might have it sorted anyway thanks to some good folks on TC :)

I took my younger brother to the North v Melbourne game at the Dome yesterday and out of the 15,000 in attendance I reckon there would have been less than 4,000 Melbourne supporters.

Do yourself a favor and purchase tickets in the first few rows (A-E) in lvl 2. Best seating in the stadium. You'll love it. I usually always buy lvl 2 seats on E-Bay in the week leading up to the game. Just keep an eye out. You can probably work out a 'pick up' plan from the seller. Tickets are usually always well under face value too, especially with the opposition being Melbourne it shouldn't be a problem.

If anyone here has extra lvl 2 seats to sell please let me know what you want for them. More than happy to buy some so I can go to the game. Got back to Melbourne too late to purchase a membership so I helped the club financially in other ways.

Edit: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Carlton-V-Melbou ... 286.c0.m14 -- Just bought these tickets from a guy who has a feedback over 300 and is a well known ticket seller on E-Bay. Just showing you the type of deals you can make on the site.
