Post subject:  Round 20 - Pros and cons

Is that the first 9 goal win without a centre clearance in AFL history?

In any case, Some things are starting to click together nicely.

PROS

1. Brett Thronton - playing like an A grade defender

2. Richard Hadley - adds so much "in the bubble". Can butcher it. How was he in the 2's for 3 months!

3. AJ - keeps on keeping on. Quality

4. Rusty - I don't know where this has come from. His best footy has been as a leading HFF, but this 3rd defender role is doing OK. Did lose his man at that stoppage before 3Qtime for a bad goal, but otherwise good.

5. We nailed our 3 number 1 picks, and we also got HIM to the club.

CONS

1. The clearances were a disgrace. We got creamed. Did we really miss Hammer that much, or was it the guys on the ground? Bit of both i think

2. Kickouts again - when defending we just give away uncontested marks at 50. It's infuriating! Some of ou long kicks out of the pocket are atrocious

3. I love Eddie and we know he's playing hurt but we miss him being 100% fit. Just not the same spark

4. Wiggins was simply not up to it today

5. Mitch Rob has great endeavour but disposal can be butchered. He needs time, unlike wiggo who shouldn;t play again this year

Great to shove it up those flat track bullies. Dean Brogan is a shocking human being.

September here we come!

I haven't really got any negative comments to make. When with the wind Port were always going to come out hard as they are downhill skiers, as long as we stopped the scoreboard pressure we were a shoe in. We did that very well, albeit a few poor turnovers at stages.

Pros:

- Another team effort.
- Wiggins and JR in defence have been brilliant the past two weeks.
- Army is playing very well.
- Hadley was awesome when the game was hot. Clean hands!!
- Robbo's defensive efforts are what we need in finals.
- Walker kicked ass, was in everthing and ran very hard.

Plenty of others but Fev's tackles was bloody beautifull!!

Incorrect. I'm not a Wiggins fan as a rule, but he was very good in the backline today

Yeah, he definitely holds his own in 1 on 1 contests, but he flowers up too often for my liking

PROS

-Walker: Best on ground when others were struggling
-Gibbs: Geez he has shup up a lot of the critics from earlier in the season
-Robinson: Just adds so much mongrel and enthusiasm
-Armfield: took a while to get into the game, but definitely had a win against Pearce.
-Cloke: Came in and did make an impact, full credit to him
-Stevens: Has found consistency since coming back into the team

CONS
- Kick ins, Kick ins, Kick ins, Kick ins
- Still not dominating the hit-outs and clearances nearly as much as we could.
- Wiggins: made an effort, but somehow really looks like he is filling time until we bring through someone better
- The fumbles we just too much, we need to pull our act together before finals

Pros:

Great away win...
We are running out games much better than we did earlier in the year.
The boys are being backed to take the game on and are enjoying the freedom and this is becoming habit now which has made the difference.
1AW just about ready to hit his straps...
Gibbs, Murph, Carrots (Legend... ), Stevo, Hadley (wasn't a fan but if he is using his hands is very effective), the defence (in the absence of Waite and Jamo) and Tactics.

Cons:

Ziltch again!!!...

Hoops was very good again today.

As Wallsy would say, our "bottom six" are very hard to pick at the moment.

Post subject:  Re: Round 20 - Pros and cons

Pros: Too many to mention.
- Fev, Murph, GIBBS all class
- Juddy still brought others into the game while being scragged by Kane COrnes
- Kreuz not intimidated by that walking mattress Brogan
- Thornton deserves AA selection (but won't get it)
- WALKER'S BACK!
- AJ, K-Dog, Stevo, Carrots a great supporting cast in the middle
- Both Setanta and Fev getting in THE CHAD's face at all times
- JR was critical running of HB. I think we've found the boy's position at last.
- Standing up to immense pressure and a hostile crowd. Real sign of character and great preparation for finals.

Cons:
- Patches of the game when Port were pressuring us, we went back into our shell and found simple tasks like exiting our backline or handballing to a clear teammate impossible. We need to stop this in finals.
- Kick-ins were still a worry
- Fev was terrific, but there were times when I wish he would slow down and think. That snap around the corner, playing on in the goalsquare into the man on the mark. Everything else was elite though.
- Houlihan faded in and out of the game, as did Cloke
- Three goals from 50s. We're #1 in the league for this and we need to work on our discipline (or at least respond better to divers)
- Red time goals!!!

Post subject:  Re: Round 20 - Pros and cons

Pros:

- Murphy sensational again, now has 28 goals for the season
- Gibbs great also, great goal in the 2nd quarter
- Fev once again brilliant, not only his 6 goals but his overall pressure, loved watching him give it to the ferals at the end
- Thornton and Bower solid once again down back
- Hadley was pretty good, coughed it up a couple of times though
- Russell another great game off half back
- Stevens another good contribution
- Armfield continues to improve
- Walker!
- Finals guaranteed :thanks:

Cons:

- Killed in the ruck
- Killed in the centre clearances
- Robinson slipping over all the time, just SETTLE DOWN
- Cloke went missing when the game was up for grabs, typical
- Coughing up goals in red time AGAIN
- Letting them back into the game in the 3rd when we should have finished them off
- Setanta struggled a bit today
- We won by over 39.5 so screwed my first ever (and last) multibet
- The bombers won :banghead:

Someone needs to explain to me what red time goals are as we actually kick goals ourselves in this red time.

Some people seem to want us to hold onto the ball in red time and others wants us to attack.

Can't do both.

Pros:
Got all the work done today that I needed to get done.
Was able to keep up to date with the match via here.

Cons:
Won't be able to watch the match til midnight.
Wasn't able to listen to ANY Sunday footy due to the AFL screwing Sydney and interstate listeners and us not getting decent coverage.
