Good to see he's still negotiating his post-football contracts the way he did his footy ones.

And is Allison still his manager?

If so, thanks, but no thanks.

..why would he need a manager to apply for a coaching role..?..

..lookit, at the end of the day if he's capable, he's capable.. ..we shouldn't give him any bias, one way or another,, during the interview [and salary!!]..

Most coaches and ex-players still have managers taking care of contract negotiations and financial matters.

Hmmm, don't know about that one.

Personally, I hope Carlton chases hard after Brad Scott. Buckley's leapfrogged over the top of him at Collingwood, and the senior coaching position is completely off limits for at least the next 5 years.

He'll go from 2nd banana in 2009, to third banana in 2010. A demotion, no matter how the pies try to sell it to him.

Good to hear, agree non-Carlton experience would be a good start for any ex-Carlton player and sounds like he accepts that. Nevertheless he's done the right thing and given Carlton first option.
In a coaching role would he put a bit of distance between himself and Mr Elliott seems like a delicate consideration for most places he would apply to. Agree with other posters that conducting negotiations in the media is counter-productive.

Kouta was Boak's fav player as a kid. Tell him he can have a job on the condition that he helps secure a Boak trade to the Blues    No Boak, No contract !!!!!!!!!!!

Nice fellow and a champion player, but would be the last bloke I'd tip to have the goods to coach

Great footy player. Low on intelligence - the main requirement for a coach.
Anyone who has read his painfully bad biography knows he aint too clever...
