GOOD to see the Carlton past players' boys putting their fundraising dollars to good use, with word reaching us the group has almost got enough in the bank to buy a five or six-bedroom home which, when purchased, will house young players when they first join the club.

The Blues' old boys, whose next function - ''the last ever captain coach (Alex Jesaulenko in 1979) premiership luncheon'' - will be held at Etihad Stadium on August 27, also plan to use some of their proceeds to provide young players with a ''how-to-live'' education, including lessons on computer work and how to cook.

Fantastic initiative. I'm surprised this hasn't been done before.

Without a "mother" around, I kinda think its a bit counter productive to have a bunch of 18 year olds live in the same house.

We need someone strict and stern looking after them, like this lady.

I've always thought that in the new development they should have included some rooms and a kitchen to give the boys a place to start out in. But a big round of applause to the past players for initiating this idea.

Tend to agree with you - a couple of my mates that got drafted and traded to the swans were all put in a house down at Maroubra and I don't know whether it was the environment or what but after 2 years they all wanted out and headed back to the home states They should instead of buying a 5 or 6 bedroom place use the money to extend the Caz's house and put them all up there some Mrs Caz can cook and clean for them
