http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 42,00.html In regards to the Cats, there's no doubt there is concerns. Assuming they get their key players right (and soon), they'll go deep in September once again imho. I wouldn't of thought any side would look forward to playing them at their best. I guess though that's their issue as they are far from it at the moment. |

Just watching the game again now.. I know we all say it, but just how good is Judd! He is a star. WCE did well in getting Masten and Kennedy, but we did very well in getting Judd. Not just as a player, even though he is the premier player in the comp, but as the man who is bringing Carlton back to the kind of football we expect to see, and the premierships we are going to win. |

Quote: Playing on Aaron Joseph must be like sitting next to the biggest pest in your life on a two-hour bus ride. No fun at all, no matter where you are headed. At the end of last season, who of us would've thought a quote like that would be opening a Mike Sheahen article this year? Onya AJ! ![]() |

Mike Sheahan wrote: Watching Ablett in the past two months has generated the following observations: HE is collecting rather than earning possessions; THE bulk of those possessions are coming in the defensive half of the ground; HE is growing increasingly irritated by the attention he gets to the point of repeatedly looking to umpires for relief; HIS last quarter returns are disturbingly modest. All the opposite of Judd. Judd gets his own ball, rather than hand ball receives. The bulk of Judd's possessions come in the middle of the ground. No matter how much scragging Judd gets, he doesn't complain to the umpires; he just gets on with it. Judd lifts his game to another level when the match is in the balance. |

It does look like Gazza is carrying an injury although if he is, it seems strange to camp him in the back line. I would have thought propping him in the forward line would have caused us far more headaches. I was not fussed at all with him being their Friday night as he was no more damaging than any of their other defenders playing it out. Judd on the other hand was threatenign all night and near 3/4 time Ilooked over, and fair dinkum, Ling was blowing up and looking even uglier and pinker in the face as he had been run into the ground by Judd. And hasn't gazza become a sook? He got an armchair ride form the umpires for 2 years and the minute he starts gettig treated like any other midfielder, he sooks and moans. |

Watching Ablett on Friday night, he was seriously skirting the edges of the pack waiting for Selwood to get the hard ball to him. Not what we have come to expect. Would seriously think he isn't close to the Brownlow this year. |

The article should have been called, "Judd regains spot as best player in the comp after a brief interruption by Gary Ablett" |

Blue Sombrero wrote: The article should have been called, "Judd regains spot as best player in the comp after a brief interruption by Gary Ablett" If it were true. I've never rated Ablett better than Judd. Judd does more in 25 touches than Ablett does in 40. It's just a whole lot more obvious to fluffers like Sheahan when Ablett gets 25 instead of 40. It's why Greg Williams is still the best midfielder I've seen (though Wayne Johnston's still my favourite). Williams was more damaging than Judd AND regularly picked up 40 touches. Ablett's no Judd and he's miles away from Diesel. |

..gabblet's still an exceptional player, being limited i think partly to geelong's gamestyle starting to become a bit 'over the top'.. ..far too over-possessive, geelong's lost the directness that made it so fierce.. ..and with their midfield depth, and yippy fwd line, i don't understand why the gabblet isn't camped up fwd.. ..silly cats.. |

last week on On The COuch, Sheehan was questioning whether Judd was All Australian this year. All of a sudden he is the best player in the comp. Dill. |

I was thinking the same thing. When asked whether he was AA, he paused for a long time before asking how many were allowed to be picked. Once he was told six, he then said that Judd would definantley be in the top 6 mids and now he writes that he is the best going round ![]() The problem with Mike is that I don't think that he really watches the games any more, but rather forms an opinion and then looks for moments in the game that support that opinion. If he can't support the opinion, he simply changes it to something completely different. Also I have found it quite interesting that Hird has been unflappable with his belief that Carlton will make the finals and are becoming a very good side, even when we have played poorly. It will certainly be worth watching tonight to see if he gives Mike the "I told you so" ![]() |
