Really brave last night going back with the flight of the ball on a couple of occasions last night
Whoever is working with him is doing a great job - he is know running to the right spots most of the time - putting his body in - taking the hits - hit outs improving

Our most improved over the last 19 weeks

Gee if only we got Jadyn Post and had Alan Richardson

I agree I love the way Hammer goes about it and is not afraid of putting his body in. He will only improve from here.

There have been a couple of instances in games of late that have really started to define just how good this kid could be. He has been dominating the ruck and starting to take a few grabs around the ground. He has run down a few whippets and when he is around the Implied pressure will only increase from here on in. Last night his bravery, the way he got hit and then got back up to play on, shows he is developing an AFL mind set and shedding the soccer mindset.

His body is gaining the power and strength required to take the buffeting week in week out. Paul Salmon and Simon Madden use to give us untold grief and I have no doubt the Huge Hammer will do exactly the same to others over the next 10 years. As an athlete he is stunning. Just wait until he gets his brain fully around this oval ball game.

Keep em comin Hammer and keep following the lead of the big K. Demand the footy

I've had little doubt on Hampson from the start and none on Kreuzer.

The prospect of both of those super tall, agile and skilled big guys running around for another 10 years...

We haven't yet seen exactly how good Warnock might become but if he ends up holding down the No 1 ruck spot with Hammer playing as a super tall ruck rover and Kreuzer at CHF no team in my memory will have that sort of talls advantage.

Oh...and they can rotate a bit if they get bored dominating in any one role...

I've never seen a ruckman fly onto screen at such crazy speed - twice.

Took some marks early, made a difference. The word ceiling does not apply to Hammer's potential.

..what stuns me about him, is his sheer bulk doesn't seem to slow him down or make him awkward one bit.. ..and as i've said before, his speed/acceleration is just obscene, more so for the two metre hulk..

And don't forget, if we get Warnock right we could have one monster to out-tap them and one super-athlete to outrun them. Not to mention one who can outsmart them (Kreuz) in short bursts and handy backups to come in if we get desperate (Jacobs, Cloke and Setanta).

I totally agree with the posts and am glad that someone has started a specific thread - hampson has progressed in leaps and bounds over the last 8 weeks and is starting to grow in confidence as a ball carrier too. whatever happens we need to get him signed up and out of the reaches of the GC!! (what is his contractual status, does anyone know?)

He was incredible in bursts last night. His ruckwork in the 2nd qtr was fantastic, let alone the 3rd qtr and his commitment to put his body on the line. and his tackling around the centre circle, too.

Interesting to see that he only played about 60mins (haven't got the exact stats in front of me). The match committee instruction must be to run like buggery for the time he is on the ground (which he did admirably).

Yep 60% time on ground, with Kreuzer getting 62%. Don't think he dropped a mark last night and when he extends his arms there aren't too many defenders who can get near him. One or two stoppages where he was able to flick the ball over the back for someone to run onto.

As I posted in the post match thread for years Port Adelaide have been able to use Brogan and Lade at the same stoppage...we will be able to use Hammer and Kreuz at the same stoppage and confuse the @#$%&! out of the opposition.

He's starting to remind me of Kouta circa 1993.....albeit a taller version.

Correct, and the most pleasing thing is that HE wanted that extra year badly so he wouldn't be shunted back to GC at the end of next year. The fact that he personally pays for personal trainers over the last few preseasons is an indication of his dedication to being the best he possibly can.

His deficiency is still marking, he grabs a few but misses some he shouldn't. I'm sure this dedication he quite obviously shows will ensure he works harder than ever over the preseason on marking skills, because to be frank, when that clicks..............................

Its frightening to think back how far we've come in the last 3 years in our ruck stocks. The worst following division with negative potential to one where the sky's the limit. Best thing is we won't have to worry about using early draft choices to try and find a gem. We can use later picks and even rookie positions to find gems that seem to come on every now and then.

I remember watching this guy @ the U18 champs and thinking he could be anything along the spine.

Still gives me that impression now, absolute freak show.

I think most supporters understand that a player of his size and experience takes until year 5 to bear fruit. We are patient with the big fellas. He could really be something 2011 onwards

He scared me last night when he went back with the flight of the ball, jumped, and landed awkwardly. Looked like he hyper-extended his lower back, and if you throw that out, goodbye career. Thankfully, he seemed okay later on in the game, so crisis averted.
