We decided to look into one of the comments that has been made on here a few times over the years - could Dorra have made a difference had he been in the 1993 GF team? http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-read_artic ... icleId=113 So we caught up with him the other week and this is what he said. From the Blueseum |

Good to read an article on my cousin! ![]() I think had he been eligible and had he played, Essendon* wouldn't have gotten away with the rough house tactics that essentially won them the premiership. Dorra would have fought fire with fire in that GF and taken out a Scum or two. Just my opinion. |

Indeed, he was one tough hombre in his day. Sort of like a silent assassin, who wasnt that silent.. One of my fave memories of him was him giving it to Cloke senior in his first year over here, gold Jerry gold. Was an underrated player i think, was very capable in attack too. Although didnt he miss once from about 2 inches out at Waverley one day ? |

Great article. I am convinced Dorra would have made a difference on the day, if only to smack Wallis after he ko'd Mil Hanna. No other carlton player went near him. I don't doubt your research, but I have vivid memories of going to the last training session before the GF and watching Dora, peter dean and Kouta hoping those three would play instead of athorn, powell, Scholl or Heaver. That was a lost opportunity and it still burns. |

Why didn't you ask him about the car park incident? |

Thanks for reminding me ![]() Not sure if Dorra even if eligible could have made a difference, but perhaps he could have clobbered a few of those pesky Bombers behind play that we couldn't seem to catch...not that I condone that sort of thing, but this was a special circumstance ![]() |

darknavy wrote: Why didn't you ask him about the car park incident? Does that always have to be brought up whenever Dora's name is mentioned? ![]() Doras presence would've definitely made a difference in that GF. An excellent Carlton player who would've had more impact than Powell and Athorn, IMO. |

I never understood the view that it was better to avoid talking about a lost Grand Final. Put it this way - I'd much rather talk about 1993 than 2003. |

Why does it? Is being in a parked car doing something very personal outside of a primary school brought up every time we speak of a former Collingwood player? Is being arrested brought up every time we mention numerous current and former VFL/AFL players? Why hold worse things close to the chest for some people and persecute others for lesser acts? Yes, Dorra shouldn't have done it, but it doesn't define him. |

As the Author of the article and the guy lucky enough to talk to a Carlton champion I'm really disappointed that anyone felt it necessary to divert attention away from a) the intent of the article, b) the story of Dorra or c) his worth to Carlton as a Premiership Player, 100 gamer and ambassador of the Club. Dorra played 132 games for Carlton and that's what I'm interested in talking about. |

Fair point ![]() Although talking about the season as a whole in 93 isn't a problem. On grand final day I was surrounded by Bombers. A large number of my family are Bombers. I have been hearing about the game ever since. For me a horrible day. I don't want to talk about 2003 for the most part either ![]() ![]() |

Dorotich and Dean were two who missed the Granny. They would have made a difference but our big problem was that we were slow all over the ground, and most of our guns had shockers. |

If he'd kicked it to me we'd have won that game against Richmond (Waverley). I hate to keep bringing it up but it still grates. |

I remember that game... Am I correct in saying that that behind cost us a spot in the finals that year or am I wrong? |
