One of Pagans favourites, but all things must pass and Archie must pass to the 2's this week. Has been very fortunate to hold a place given his sad lack of form for the year. The most disappointing aspect of his game is his lack of physical presence - at 6 ft 8 in and 100kg he should be exerting himself bigtime but is only displaying powder fluff.

Unfortunately Bryan appears to have the same issue.

Where is our next ruckman. I'm happy to take one with less talent but with physical presence - give me that tattoed wonder Wow Jones anyday.

Agree Rod. I think Archie may need a spell in the two's.

He played a good game last week under the circumstances when French went down, but was very bad the week before against the pussies.

We need a crash and bash ruckman, eg like Biglands, Minson.

Maybe Bryan in this week for Archie.

Agreed. He has to go. Has not missed a game since he came to the club and two or three weeks in the reserves might just be the wake up call he needs.

Bryan must be given a go. You never know until they come up and present hemselves. We have nothing to loose.

Arch is doing ok. He certainly isnt a world beater but either was Barnaby in his first year at the club.
We certainly cant go chopping a 202 cm player and bring in Bryan who in my opinion isnt taller than 195cms and cant cut it in the ressies.
Dont know what you expect from a guy like Deluca..he is always hard at the contests and is slowly improving in the ruck....
The guys he played against today are much more seasoned and he did ok against them.
Bryan wouldnt have hacked a half of footy today and would have done less around the ground.

I agree.

The thing that people dont understand is a lot of our players are playing out of position due to injuries or lack of other options. Archie has played his best footy on the forward line and like Whitnall has been moved around to the backline and in the ruck this season. If he could settle forward he'd be much more effective.

he's struggling this year, and has a bad dose of "hard hands". but he's still young and inexperienced. i think he may be feeling the pinch of having had a limited preparation pre-season.

the more games he plays in the middle the better he will be in the long term. whether that's in the ones or the magoos is up to denis.

most big guys take longer to hit their straps. calls for him to be given the chop at seasons end are a bit knee-jerk methinks!!

I don't think we should drop him, I think we should play him in the forward line. He hasn't looked comfortable all year cos he's been asked to do jobs that he has no experience doing.

Give him a whole game in the forward line as a foil for Fev and watch his form magically turn around.

You could apply that to most of the team this season. That's what is doing the damage, IMO. We're short on skills, and unstable in our team setup.

True. You anly had to look at what the inclusion of Livo did for us today. Looked heaps better with him down back. We finally have a 'gorilla'.

Remember how he played in the Essendon* game?

Was a target up forward and ended up snagging 3 goals for the night.
Played really well that night.

I'd have Archie at CHF, Fev at FF and Lance sacrificing his own game and play that Aaron Hamill type role that he did for us back in 2000.

Not sure Livo really qualifies as a gorilla, but he allows Thornton and Teague to play more natural role's and DeLuca and Whitnall not to have to play back. Adelaide played their tallest forward line of the year I reckon.

Nope, he's a gorilla. When it's a one on one tussle, I reckon there are not too many in the comp that'll out-do him. He's really come along, and if the injury gods can just F*CK OFF AND LEAVE HIM ALONE to string a good thirty or forty games together he will give us the better deal out of the Hamill fiasco. I'm well aboard the Livo train (Dannyboy is driving).

For that very reason I wish Livo all the best!!! I really want him to succeed. He still looks a little small against the big forwards though and I'm not as convinced on his strength as you are Deano...but I hope you're a better judge than me :D

I still remember when Livo out bodies Quentin Lynch in the Wizard Cup GF. I know it's only Wizard Cup and that means nothing but there wouldn't be many players that could do that.

That was huge.
Lynch isn't exactly a push over either.

I don't think anyone was saying we should delist him. My point was that he has never been droped to the reserves in his entire AFL career and I think it may be beneficail for all to do so. Long term we have to persist with him because of his size, potential and our lack of other options.

I am not sure about Bryan either. Saw him up close after the last PP game and he doesn't come across as a giant. But surely we have to give hime a go and see what he does. If it fails all it costs you is ADL in the reserves for 2 weeks.
