Dear Fev

Please take a look at the scoreboard before you take a shot at goal.

Far too often this year you have missed vital goals.

Friday night was another game when you were given great deliver but wtf.., but we snuck home.

Scoreboard pressure is better than any tackle.

You and your friend hoops have been the main offenders.

3.4 is not good enough,

The next 4 weeks will decide the future of our club.

A good performance and a good go in finals series will determine how we develop.

Fev that means your performance is vital. The premiership window is either open or closed,

Your form and the form of older players will decide this. e.g. Scotland, Houlihan, Stevens, Hadley.

If we perform poorly then we will continue to rebuild.

That means Fev your career may finish on the Gold Coast.

So lets think about what we do on the field.

Fev may have only kicked 3.4 but he had IIRQ 3 assists. Yes he missed some easier shots (for his standard) but he did the team things.

I would have thought if players like fev looked at the scoreboard, then that would only add to the pressure, add to the tightness, and make the yips worse.

Seems, too many of our players, miss the critical moments of the game.

Walls spoke of minute-by-minute football when we won the flag in '87

Our team has taken it a little far.

Maybe when your down the ladder you can mess up with no consequences.

Now we are on the way up and have plenty in the seconds who want a game.

Stevens and Scotland should be setting some people straight.

Good honest communication is what is required.

16 Quarters left in the home and away and we need to win at least 12 of them.

we only really need to beat melbourne.

i think we will win 2/4.

GEELONG - LOSS
PORT ADELAIDE - WIN
MELBOURNE - WIN
ADELAIDE - LOSS

finals should be brisbane, collingwood or bulldogs

i think we can beat any of them in the first week of the finals.
game on. critical goals will be needed. not sure we can do much to help fev.

Does he always change his grip at the last second when kicking set shots?

Saw it a couple of times on Friday night - the ball dropped about a half-inch lower in his hands in the last couple of strides.

Also, his hands are rarely in the same place when he's taking a set shot.... he's kicked enough goals to suggest he has a natural feel for the footy, but i reckon he could justify his grip by doing more work on the mechanics of it - as he did when he first unveiled it.

I think he's already back on the right track.

Normally chips through the ball when inside 45 metres and within about a 45 degree angle from the centre of the goal, and he's back to doing that.

Good signs. I mean the guy kicked 9 just the other week...

..victim of his own 'reliability'.. ..still a v.reliable set shot, and the critical need resting on his shoulders wouldn't be anywhere near as heavy if other players kicked even half as reliably as he does..

It has cost a couple this year, Essendon* round 3, Hawthorn round 6. But he's won alot of games almost on his own for Carlton too so we can't have everything.

Interesting "if your Auntie had balls" thought. If Fev had kicked straight in those games and Houlihan had kicked that one against the Saints our season would've been seen in a way different perspective. The "Ratten" coaching thread wouldn't be at 100 pages that's for sure!

Fev's accuracy this year hasn't been good enough.

Bit rough...He could hold it in his teeth for all I care. I'm just saying that on the weekend, he was adjusting his grip just before he kicked it. Johnno Brown spins the thing in circles as he's coming in, but he uses the more conventional grip.

The Fev/Nafan Brown grip is a deliberate attempt to steady the football on a set shot so the football drops perfectly on to the boot. It is, for all intents and purposes, a superior grip to use.... doesn't mean shit if you change it at the last second.

It just shows that he is not confident from a set shot.

I reckon Fev kicks better when instinctive....if he thinks about it too much he will spray it more often than not....it's the type of player he is.
