I see this saying really applying to us and not the good way. We can keep getting gun recruits every year but unless they start moulding together we will never be a premiership contender. We will scrape home against mediocre teams and occasionally have a good game but that means nothing. I think Ratten plays a big part in this, we have a star studded midfield but somehow get beatin in clearances alot. Specially against Collingwood i noticed our clearances involved one player breakin the lines and theirs involved 3 or 4 players with one on their knees dishin it out. Fev is hot and cold which hurts us, it shouldn't matter wat mood this blokes in to win. This will be a slow process but unless it improves we are goin no where The top four teams all show this and thats why thay are there....... |

I agree with most of it, particulaly the fact that we don't block and work hard enough for each other. It seems that we are a lazy side with only a couple of players that gut run and plenty that lope around and don't give enough options to ball carrier. Personally I am happy enough with the year as a whole, but I would like to see a bootcamp style pre season to enforce some discipline and work ethic so that theyknow what is expected of them next year. And before everyone burns Ratts for coaching a lazy side, bear in mind that it's the guys that were walk up starts in our dark years that are the problem and so sometimes it gets hard to teach old dogs new tricks. Hoops, Fev, Stevens, Thorton, Russel and Scotland all pick and choose when they want to chase or help out a teammate. Let's hope that like what Lyon did with Dal Santo, Stevens wakes up and does the team things consistently. |
