His intensity and forward pressure reminds me of a young Fevola... But his upside and skills are there for all to see! I'm pretty hopeful he'll arrive sooner than Fevola though!

What a shame last week his performance was not there, would have loved to see him potentially turn it on tonight against the kangas, but i'm thinking he needs a good rock solid pre season and needs to be kicked in to gear, seems he's not ready yet.....

Thoughts?

One major advantage Yarrans got over a young Fev is a personal development structure and setup at the club with a core of professional young team mates to grow up with, so as far as focus and professionalism goes Yarrans got a big head start.

Yarran may just need a bit more time to acclimatize to Melbourne life.

I think he'll be serious weapon in a few years ..like Fev ..but with a good attitude ...unlike Fev.

Is this a joke?

Fev kicked 12 in his first game (albeit a pre-season cup match) what has Yarran done exactly?

Not saying he won't get there......just take off the rose coloured galsses before you make statements like that.

What else did Fev do in his first 3 or 4 years that showed anything that he could be the star he is today??

Yes, he had very small glimpses of form, i knew he could be a star if he just worked hard and got some confidence, and was rapt when Pagan kept him.. Anyone who has the talent to have 16 shots on goal in their first 2 games at 18 (Rd 1 and 2, 2000) has the potential to be a fantastic player.. Very frustrating watching Fevola back then, and Britts couldn't get the best out of him.

Yarran's pressure and intensity is vey Fevola like 2000-01.. He does have a crack but it doesn't show and is too often on the back foot..

See some of Yarran's youtube highlights from the WAFL and you'll see why we chose him as a first round draft pick, particularly with Fevola as our sole focal point, he has an uncanny goal sense and could be anything in the forward line, unfortunately he hasn't done that yet, but he is still a kid in his first year..

Would be a bonus if he could show usm a bit of that this year, but otherwise we maybe have to be patient... Certainly has what it takes to be a very good player though.

I think he's being defaultly labled as having poor effort when he's actually chasing and improving his work off the ball. He just looks unfit to me. He looks like he's put on a quite a bit since last year and he doesn't have the tank to shift it yet.

..not really, the game's changed alot since Fev's young days.. ..back then yer power fwds didn't chase much at all, as for Yaz.. ..today it's fully expected that all fwds chase, but especially so of small/medium fwds, and even more-so for fwds which have some pace [like he does].. ..so his questionable work ethic off the ball stands out more than Fev's did when he was same age.. ..also note that Fev slipped far down the ladder cos he was thought to be a mega head-case, even as talented as he was/is.. ..where-as for Yaz [didn't slide much at all, if he even did at all] it's more his accountability/work and not so much his actual 'attitude'.. ..or at least that's what i think..

Simply no comparison, Yarran has been very poor.

Anyway no forward line is built around a 180cm player.

We should have taken Rich and worked towards replacing Stevens.

Can Yarran and Betts play in the same time?

Where does that leave Garlett?

We need 185cm, lead up forwards who can kick between 2 and 5 and can defend.

Funny Yarren doesn't come across as a petulant sook who drops his bundle at the first signs of things not going right
please don't try and tell me that

He hasn't had the start that we all wished but as I have said before I will be a lot happier when our draft choices are not even considered for selection
