I can only see one of them remaining on the list next year....that being Bryan.
Not saying he is a great ruckman yet coz he isn't, but he's better than Prenda imo. He's better skill wise than Prenda and he's also younger as well.

That being said Prenda is in the "leadership group". Is that enough to be retained next year?

DeLuca and Prender will be kept.
Bryan, apparently, is only on a one year contract.
If he couldn't get a game this week in French's absence, then he will never get a game.

He'll be gone at years end unless he shows something.

Could have done worse than pick Chris Bryan today, we got smashed at the clearances, we only won about 10 hitouts for the match...

wasn't impressed with bryan's first half yesterday. didn't see the second half though.

prenda continues to be a player that's hard to define.

he's not a ruckman, he's not a KP, he's not a midfielder, he's not a footballer ... we're still no closer to finding a position for him!

prenda will play some good footy in the second half of the season when the footballers start showing signs of fatigue. but when the footballers are out there and up for it, prenda will continue to be a nowhere man.

I don't get it what more can Bryan show?, every week in the best for the Ants.
De Luca got four hit outs, fair dinkum the bounce got him those.
I mean you don't have to play two rucks but you gotta play at least one.
Totally absurd not to play him today.
They keep more spanners than Sidchrome and are already going to arse this kid, untried.
I really would love to know what the real story is.

DeLuca & Prenda should be dropped. Bring in Bryan - but for god sake do it for longer than 15min!

Good plan.. except that Bryan gets given the runaround in the VFL... where the ruckman are much inferior to the ones in the AFL.

sometimes i wonder how peoples brains tick over.....

You might give Bryan a game with French in the side... but youre giving me a rib tickler if you think he would have stood up as first ruck today...

WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SLAUGHTERED by Biglands and Co....

Mate.... thats wishful thinking.. its like telling people you WILL win Tattslotto next week.

Most of us know better.. some will even laugh in your face....

Yes i know you hate Denis and you would much rather be the coach.... you and a couple of your mates... sitting around in the pub today with your Kevin Sheedy face mask on from last week... discussing possible changes...

......... ah yes this coaching caper is easy huh???

How many AFL premierships have YOU coached Ryan??? :D

What do you mean "would have been"? We were. Enough said. Denis is more concerned with his own reputation than to take any chances with some of the youngsters. At years end half of them will disappear again without being given a fair go. And I don't mean just 5 minutes here or there, as was the case with Carlos.

Squarehead.. we may have been smashed with Deluca and Prenda... but we would have been pulverised with Bryan cos he doesnt run around much.... he loses his feet against smaller guys.. which he did a couple of times yesterday.
You have to stay on your feet Bryan when youre contesting against blokes half your size....!!!!

There is no way he will get a game with weak efforts like that.

Never seen Bryan with being over here, but his non-selection this week was a huge case of deja vu from last year with Mott. If your number one ruckman goes down, and you prefer makeshift ruckman to your backup, then its safe to say that the backup doesn't have a long AFL career lined up...

Synbad

So do you think Bryan is a lost cause? Do you think there is any chance he will improve? Is it a case of he has the skills but his application needs work?

i would have bryan in for no other reason than he can kick the ball a mile and i reckon that would be a massive asset for our kick-outs at the moment.

dont think he has the tank yet to run out a game and that is his problem as i see at the moment.

his kicking is awesome, his tap work is up there (i remember the practise match at the start of the season and he gave French a bath) but it his ability to run around the ground, something that French does very well, that will see him struggle.

If he can get that worked out he will be very handy.

A couple of kicks for the ants on the weekend where massive, with several hitting the Circle in the centre square, he had the wind, but that is a massive kick regardless.

All three should go at season's end - neither are AFL standard footballers.

De Luca - simply uncompetitive in all aspects. Ruck, around the ground, marking ability, disposal, need I go on. It simply defies any reasonable logic that he is yet to be dropped to the Ants. Must go.
Bryan - is reasonable at VFL level. Is OK around the ground, has a really good kick on him but in the ruck he cant compete. He would be obliterated at AFL level in the ruck and would have his effectiveness largely limited in terms of around the ground possessions. Not good enough.
Prender - enough with this experiment. It hasn't worked. He is a nothing player. Cant ruck, is not up to it in any position and isn't much chop as a utility. Cut our losses and move him on.

We need to get serious as a club and stop this repetitive denial with some of our players that they are capable of taking us to a flag. The three discussed above will never form part of or contribute in any way to Carlton winning a premiership. Seeing that this year is essentially a wreck and we will be starting a rebuild with young talent, let's flush out the rubbish and get serious about getting some quality footballers to our club.

Stop deluding yourselves folks! I would add to the above list but we'll leave it for like minded players for this thread!!!

Prenda has a contract next year. That and the fact we need his big body will be the only reason he stays. Bryan seems gone and DeLuca shouldn't be thrown out.

Bryan needs to be given an oppotunity to at least show what he can do. Would have played him yesterday.

Has been genuinly good this year in the two's and deserves a shot.

I would have played Bryan as well..while his first half vs Willy was terrible I thought he contested better in the 2nd half and showed he has some talent...Deluca and Prenda have no idea in the ruck and I would go so far as to say Prenda is the better of the two.

Prenda is too small at least Bryan is a decent size and while I take Synbads point that he doesnt seem to try on occassions I think you have to give players a go at the top level and see what they are like before you discard them...got nothing to lose.

Exactly, Give the guy a game for Gods sake, we are last and Deluca is playing like crap. Lets at least see if the guy has anything to offer before we throw him on the scrapheap
