3LO have just issued an apology, having contacted Mr Bannister snr that he did not make that call and it was someone else pretending to be him. Have apologised to the Bannisters for any embarrassment.

BlueWorld,
Did it sound a legit apology or could it be a cover up?

Are you sure they called the right guy?

I wouldn't admit to being related to him either

KIDDING! KIDDING!

apparently it was the father of an ex girlfriend. His ex girlfriend is still bitter about the split and have been giving him a hard time also that this could have something to do with last weeks incident at the next blue.

Unfortunately there are some sorry losers out ther who feel they can target footballers simply because they are in the media spotlight and know any story will be a major news story.

Poor effort from ABC radio.

Its the sort of sensationalist crap that, even if it was his old man, they couldn't afford to take a risk on. ABC are meant to be the "intelligent alternative", not out-compete AW and MMM for the lowest common denominator.

Anything to rock the Carlton boat that much more.

Imagine that scene, where Demetriou tells you he's your father

You wouldn't want him to stop at just your hand

I'd bet decent money that it wasn't a hoax at all. Why the hell would anyone bother? The original call was a good two minutes long and certainly didn't sound like anyone taking the piss.

My theory? Jordan read the riot act to dad. Dad wakes up this morning thinking 'what the f... have I done?', then calls the ABC to tell them it wasn't him.

Personally, it makes more sense to me than some aggrieved acquaintance of Jordan's getting their father to pull a stunt like that.

A hoax?

Hmmm, perhaps he'd be suited more in the ruck what with his incredible pace and amazing leap.

I'm with John - surely the ABC would have to be pretty sure it was his father before they put him on air.

Just like the ABC checked when Paul Couch rang to speak about his Brownlow win! C'mon guys - it's the ABC...father of ex...I think I'd believe that given that Jordy's dad has minor celebrity status given his boxing pedigree. And whoever the caller was - I agree with them...Bannister should be given a steady role in the firsts as a run with player.

I really dont know for sure.. but in my opinion i agree with John too...*throws my hat in the ring behind John*

It will be interesting to see how Jordy goes from this point on.

This stinks, Jordan is going to cop presssure for this and it had nothing todo with him, he is a really good kid and I dont reckon has had a good run at it this year , to finish in our top 10 last year was a great effort and he accordingly should get more of a run.

He hasnt spent 100 mins on the ground in any game this year so far.

I heard the call on Saturday night.

I am with John, I would be amazed if it was a hoax, it sounded utterly genuine, if it was a hoax it is one of the greatest acting performances ever.

Much more likely that dad got a massive roasting as suggested than that it was the dad of some ex-girlfriend.

Is there a link to the ABC saying the call is a hoax? Does it say that ot does it say the Wayne Bannister says it's a hoax? There is a difference.
