When Thornton went forward in round 9, one of our readers asked whether Thornton had the worst goal-kicking record for the Club in terms of games played for goals kicked - at the time Thornton was playing his 137th match for the grand total of 2 goals! He was however with Des English the best back pocket player that i have seen at the Blues. Additionally he was part of the best last line i can recall. Waite, Southby and O'Connell was a formidable and attacking defence. Just a pity that poor John was taken at such a young age! |

Wayne Harmes played back pocket for a while. He was pretty handy as well. |
