Two wins against ordinary opposition is good, but our bottom 7-8 is way below the standard required against better teams.

Out: Bentley, Armfield, Anderson, Fisher
In: Scotland, Stevens, Carlos, Austin

Garlett had more of an impact in the second half to keep his spot.

I watched them today. They looked terrible. McVeigh withdrew before the game with hamstring soreness.

Hopefully he will miss next week as he usually kills us.

They missed Big Bad Barry

Bentley Fisher and Houlihan need to make way this week. The going will be too tough for these blokes. Maybe Scotland this week but definitely not Stevo...as he doesnt offer much when the going gets tough. I fear his time is up.

I'd persist with Anderson and Hartlett if matchups allow it.

Everyone is beating Sydney at the moment and they have been a bogey side for us...a good test this week.

Ratts needs to think through fwd 50 entries and kickouts a lot more this week. Better work at clearances will also be important as this mob are the kings of in close.

The key will be our start. We have to start well and establish a lead. They are the type of side that once they get 3 or 4 up its game over. They will shut us down from then on in.

Essenscum beat them at the SCG, their supposed cauldron. Supposedly the tight confines were going to stifle their normal headless-chicken gameplan.

We won't get a better chance to beat them. They are a rabble. If we can't beat them this time around, sack the coach.

Don, that is exactly what I think of when I picture Essendon*: a bunch of chickens wearing Essendon* jumpers running around their pen with absolutely no idea whats going on, just attacking the pellet box.

We'll beat sydney, and beat them well.

Find a spot fo Hadley if he is fit. He is key

Kirk was very sore today, got hit numerous times.

Don't know why you'd bring Hadley in - he is a liability. Doesn't win effective clearances, slow, poor skills and the lack of pace means he can't chase his opponent very well.

We have to tag R Shaw - they use him all the time out of defence. We didn't do it earlier in the year and he carved us up.

Gibbs to run with Goodes again.

I agree esp re Hadley...I reckon Carrots is our in and under man..no need for the hadleys Bentleys and Benticks of the world IMO.

Hadley is a class above Bentley and Bentick, but his touch has vanished, and judging by the lack of a recall it's yet to return.

Early days, but:

Out: Fisher, Bentley, Armfield, Houlihan
In: Austin, Carlos, Scotland, Stevens/Browne

Hartlett must get a go up forward; I fully appreciate the quality of his disposal coming out of defensive 50, but it's a case of rolling the dice on all other defensive aspects just to achieve that.. Anderson must take the medium forward, whether that's one of O'Keefe, Micky O or whoever. Dunno why he was on Riewoldt at times.

I think we need to sacrifice this concept of a designated kicker playing HB for the time being. Thornton has shown this week and last that he is capable of making quick decisions. I believe Austin has the same trait, as does Joseph and Anderson. Sure the execution isn't there for virtually all of them, but if you're thinking quickly, generally it won't matter a whole lot when the turnover occurs as you will spot up the free option forward of the ball. That's where we need Johnson and Hartlett; free on the wing or making hard leads there.

Should be an interesting game, and I just wish it was at the SCG so our blokes would actually learn a bit about adapting to conditions.

O'Keefe is now almost a permanent midfielder, I'm not sure who can run with him but he has pretty much been the Swans best player for the last 5 weeks.

Its hard to have any confidence going into this game. Should have beaten them in our last two starts.

This win would really setup our season IMO. After that we'll have some good players coming back in.

ive got a fair bit of confidence going into this game.

We are playing them at docklands stadium, coming off two wins in a row with this game another one towards putting us in the finals, 7 day break this time instead of our 5.5 after the freo game, the boys would like to beat this bogey team like freo.

but i agree about the good players coming back in.

JR

That'd be a good test. If JR can cut ROK down he'll have even more supporters here

I reckon we lose something if JR plays a defensive role. Keep things simple for him...i.e. get the ball, run and break the lines. Give the stopping job to a stopper.

Gotta agree 100% with Raf's changes. Will add much needed class, and if they are up to their game, run.

I didn't see today's game or last week's, only listened to them so have no idea about Bentley. How did he actually go today? Stats wise, he had a better output than Anderson, Armfield, Betts, Fisher, Garlett, Hampson, Hartlett, Houlihan, Jamison, Johnson, Joseph, Kreuzer, Simpson and Thornton. I mean, that's more than half the team.

K H M HO T FF FA G B DT
7 4 6 0 6 0 1 1 0 74

So was he extremely ineffective with the ball, or does everyone want him dropped because they've never liked him?
Basically I want to know if he actually warrants being dropped..
