Stevens was on suspension for the first two rounds this year and this is the first game he has missed since that time. We haven't lost when he isn't playing. I hope he stays in Red for at least a few more weeks.
We have only won 4 from 11, 36% winning record with him in the team this year. Coincidence or is he the liability he seems to be :?:

Don't need him... I wonder how much he will be worth on the trade table. Not much I'd suspect

We should sell him to a romanian soccer club and get 10 kilos of meat in return

Is Stevens the new Whitnall?

(By the way, he did play one great game this year. Was at the MCG. The day Judd was out I think.)

For me he seems to be turning into the bastard lovechild of Lance and Camporeale. Love to be proved wrong.

Some harsh replies but true. I am not sure he has the fitness to compete at this level?

I think we can only carry one of Stevens, Houlihan and Scotland in the team at one time...I'd prefer Scotland b/c at least he goes when it's his turn. With all 3 we tend to lose more than win....softness on every line

It's the slowness as well as the softness that hurts.

im reuluctant to bash players.

but for me, holihan, whos real asset is his skills, is every starting to lose that ... if he isnt using the ball well (which he didnt today and hasnt for a couple of weeks) he is useless to us.

i put stevens in this mold as well and scotland to a lesser extent.

if there skills are rubbish, then they are better not being in the side. unless their skill is up .. they shouldnt be playing.

AWWWWWWWWW STEVENS!

He's a bit of a yeah nah for mine. His great games are few and far between given the standing he seems to have in the game. He's a very good average player, not one of the competition's elite.

Good thread.

Highlights the fact that players with no heart have no place in the team...there's a few more who should be playing alongside Stevens in the twos....once Walks & Waite are back the remaining passengers will make away.

This is a great point and I hope we will see more great games from him as a result (I hope). Sadly his best is gone (injury). But still in our best 22 and on his day very damaging to opposition sides IMHO. Not sure for how many more seasons... Can be a bit frustrating as he is a match winner on his day. :banghead: But other players like Robinson, Walker etc may take his place in a few seasons or next.

Used to have time for him but ever since the serious neck injury I suspect he has lost his edge. Maybe he is like a great race car driver after a horrific crash .... Like Cruise in Days of Thunder (yeah I know but u all get the point) ... scared of the hard aspects of the sport he has chosen.

Whatever the reason he has turned into a KFC eating, fatboy passenger ... I hope he sheds a few kilos, finds a pair and fires up for the finals ... but I think his time is done ... maybe we could send him off with the bucket of KFC we get for him on the trade table.

He has always had fitness issues as long as I can remember, so I don't attribute that to his neck.

He still has a place in the team but he really needs to pull his finger out.

That could just be a coincidence but I'm afraid it's not.

Unfortunately for us, Stevens is a Voodoo Doll.

He's cursed coz he was supposed to go to Collingwood. Put Barry Mitchell in this category too!
