- Kick outs, body postioning & tackling in the backline was woeful. We have to get Sos as an assistant - We have massive problems in the coaching department. No premiership experience, lack of lateral thinking ability (rarely any moves to win/save a game). Take the lead and chase Paul Roos - Selection borders on short term thinking (Bannister, Fisher, Houlihan). Selection doesn't send a clear message to the group. Stevens & Houlihan must be dropped. - Kicking by foot is woeful -Shooting for goal is woeful NB- Please don't use development & youth and a good effort against Stkilda and a win in brisbane as an alibi. (your typical Cazzman defence) When it comes down to skill, strategy and mental application we have some huge deficincies & quite a few of them are in the coaching department. |

This maybe a little of the mark but I am not too sure a change of coach will necessiarily attend to all our concerns. To use a commonly used seinfeld term, "what we have here" is a simple case of Neil Craig over analysis syndrome. As frustrating and disappointing it was last night, we need to allow Ratts the opportunity to find the right balance between attack and defence. Neil Craig took some years to realise this, I only hope that Ratts will have picked up on Neils suttle change, and put in place a similar practice. Neil encouraged his players to use the corridor with quicker ball movement to isolate his forwards, whilst still maintaining a closed a defensive back line. A transition which should be made easier once the defensive game is solid. I still have a degree of confidence in Ratts ability, but must say that he and the MC needs to take on board, how the game needs to be openened up to allow us to score. Go Blues!!! |

The coach is more important than any player. Our coach is an amateur and should go back coaching Ringwood |

We are much better than the @#%$ we are dishing up! I'd hate to be in Ratten's shoes at the moment... |

The coach is as important as any combination of players, not more important. Our coach is up and coming. He's made mistakes so far, and he'll make more. Is he the right one for our Club? Not sure, but he's what we have so far, and in some matches he and the coaching panel have done extremely well. Problem seems to be that when he does make mistakes, they seem to be shockers. |

We missed your insightful contributions when we were performing well MJ. I was looking for your positive posts praising our efforts. Internet connection down those weeks, mate? |

I have been overseas so have not been in a position to comment. I am standing here waiting to give praise, support. I think our list is pretty good and playing Hampson and Austin are a plus but I am a critic of the coaching. |

Will not renew my membership if Roos is ever appointed coach. Talks rubbish and his football team has consistently played some of the most boring football of all time. Wouldn't have won a premiership but for over the top concessions. |

His method is working at Stkilda. He also has never had a great list and that list has played to its full potential if not above it. Can you claim that with our current side? |

If Roos was as great as some think, he'd have more than one premiership after this long in the caper. |

I don't enjoy watching the Swans as a rule, but to say Roos hasn't been a spectacular success at Sydney is just ridiculous. They've been too old and slow for 6 years, they've decided they couldn't afford to drop down the ladder in the fickle Sydney market (a weak approach in my view) so kept topping up and backed their system to work, and it did. They're in trouble now - they're falling over at exactly the wrong time (GC + WS), but that was the punt they took, and it got one of the league's perennial losers a flag and 6 consecutive finals series. The Swans were favourites for the spoon in Roos' first year and haven't been rated in any pre-season, but Roos consistently gets the best out of a bunch of goers with one truly elite player in Goodes. Roos is a proven man manager, big picture strategist and tactician. I see no reason why he wouldn't be a success at Carlton. |

You're just accepting mediocrity. Great coaches win premierships. There's an s on the end of that word for a reason. |

Go and get the right one Mistakes? i think everyone in the media thinks exactly what most are saying on here but no one has said it yet. Would not surprise me if Grant Thomas says it monday night on footy classified. I mean Ratten couldn't of got it any wronger friday night with the team balance, selection and match ups. Friday nights tactics and team looked as if they were coached by someone who bought the chance to coach the Carlton Football club at a fundraiser We went in against a speed machine with only one small forward. Brought in a player who should never play for this club again. Played another who was a Essendon* reject from 5 years ago. And rather go head to head with Essendon* decided to tag almost every Essendon* player. And like you said its not the first time he's made mistakes. His tactics against the crows were just woeful. Not being able to identify that a player like Cloke, Fisher and Bannister have no future with this club but continue to persist with them. His lets just replicate the Hawks and we'll be right. What is his game plan? How much have we improved from last year? Im not seeing our younger players come on as quick as im seeing the young guys from the Bombers r any other club. |
