Hey guys, I'm after a bit of help here. I'm putting together a list of classic, quintessential, all time great carlton goals for a project of mine. as tends to always be the case, after thinking of the idea I've drawn a bit of a blank. My criteria is such that I don't really want any repeats or similarities amongst the candidates. here's what i've got so far and why Kernahan in '87 after the siren. simple kick, but very, very important. the buzz in '81, goal of the year. from just near the point post, it's a classic. Bradley checkside VS West Coast. stunning kick from the right hand side running towards goals. Fevola VS Adelaide in 2004. from the opposite side of the ground, and set shot too. Basically I need help in picking a definitive 5 that are all different sorts of goals, all important, all stunning etc. Any suggestions? [edit: sean I edited the topic title as it's probably going to grab the input you're after a bit better. Of course you can change it to something else if you like, but I went with that for now. BH] |

Surely Jezza's rolling bouncing falling goal in the 70 GF last few minutes.... Mark Aceri's goal at Footscray... Any passage of Play through the 80's with the Mosquito Fleet that ended in a goal. Tommy Jesus Alvin's goal against StKilda at PP where he ran the length of the ground to take a simple mark and have the final..ish kick of the game..... to win.. Winmar had kicked..8-10 gls that day. |

Thanks to those that have suggested ideas, but i think i should add that the purpose of them is for a proposed, but not yet finalised, challenge of sorts. I need 5 goals of some noteriety and importance to carlton fans, that range in impressiveness and execution for a variation game of horse. thats why the 4 i mentioned in my initial post get a guernsey. Sticks cos its a nice easy one to start with The Buzz cos it won goal of the year and is a different kick to the one that preceeded it, both in style and execution. Braddles because, once again, it's a different sort of kick to the other two, on the run, checkside as opposed to snap, and from distance. Fevola's because its a set shot, from the angle, from distance. All of those kicks have a special place in our hearts and minds for one reason or another. They're all different sorts of goals. I was thinking Whitnall's kick in the 99 prelim, but its similar to Fevola's, just like eddie's goal of the year is like a cross breed between Buzz's and Bradley's. |

Lance Whitnalls goal in the last quarter of the 99 prelim final. He was outside 50 on an angle and sent it straight through the middle. That goal was a big reason we made it to the GF the following week. |

Also remember Diesel kicking a ridiculous goal from the boundary late in his career - somehow floated it through Minton-Connell to break the WEagles big streak in 91 is an alltime classic |

Notwithstanding the Original Poster's requests, listing other great goals could be a good exercise for say a Bluesuem article highlighting them for interested users... |

Can't remember the year or round but Lappin off the ground against the Bombers from 40-ish out. The ridiculous goal followed by the two nearby Bombers players shoulders slumping as they watched it go through summed up the day, Carlton were never going to lose. |

Didn't Fev do a scissor kick goal this year? That's a bit different in execution. Also, Bettes kicked a beaut goal off the pack against Richmond 3rd qtr, I think, ran past, one handed take and kicked it with his next step, all in one motion. |

It was closer to goal than I remembered it, but I was sitting at the opposite end of the ground. Typical Lappin freakishness. |

Syd Jackson's snap goal from the boundary third quarter 1970 GF. Robert Wall's mark, baulk and running goal, same quarter. In fact any goal we kicked that day! |
