What do you think peoples? im not too sure but he maybe out of contract at the end of the year. Should Setanta stay?
Given his last few games and the fact he brings some mongrel into the side i say YES.

Discuss?

My gut feeling is an emphatic yes, tempered with we should only offer him one year, or two at the outside, to show his real worth. He's starting to come really good after some medical issues, and is showing some real improvement, and deserves at least one more season to show he can really cut it at the top level.

Not 100% sold on his skill level, but his application can't be faulted, and his read on the game just gets better.

YES !! I hope he gets a 2 year contract. His improvement coupled with his obvious passion for the club,
makes him our uncanny X man.

I thought he was great last night. Presented well and took some realy strong marks.

Would definitely have him here next season.

He's constantly improving.

He needs to back himself a bit more.

Until Austin really steps up and overtakes Setanta I would definetely keep him on the list; as insurance.

One, maybe two of Setanta Hartlett and Edwards may not be there next year.

The second half of the season will decide their collective fates.

Yes I love him
Is so hard to match up on
His decision making and skills are far better than what some posters say. Have a look at the pass to Fev under pressure in the last. he needs to improve his judgement for marking overhead but I reckon he hasnt been allowed to settle in one position plus he has had injury problems as well.

If we delisted him no doubt it would be our loss and another club's gain.

I thought he was fantastic last night
We look a better team when he plays

Please Ratten play Carlos in attack for at least a month. Allow him to play one spot. We will all be the beneficiary of it

Setanta is miles ahead of Cloke, Fisher and Banno.

He offers something different. You need players on your list who are different.

No doubt he will get a contract for next year, he deserves one.

Well done to the big irish lad

I reckon that we should keep him on the list. I also think that with ratts saying that he will have 3 weeks to play regardless of formhas shown that he has improved each week because of that.

Is he in our best 22, NO, but no team will have every player on their list as being in their best 22. He offers good insurance should a player get injured or we need a mature body against a tough opponent, so yes he should be at Carlton next year.

Yes,

let's compare to cloke.....

better in attack
better when the ball's in dispute
better when the ball's there to be roved
better endurance
better defensive skills

although he's 26(?) he hasn't had much continuity in Aussie Rules. Give him a year or two to grow in confidence and look out.

That's a joke, right?
His pass to Fev was one of the best kicks to position of the night. The bit of play that led to his goal was a gem. He is great below his knees.
I think he took a couple of nice marks and I can only remember one clanger.

He's a keeper. The boys need to look for him a bit more if he's up front so Fev doesn't get triple teamed all the time.

However, I think he'd be better down back or 'ruck-roving'.

Jury is still out. I'd wait until the end of the season, then make a call.

Need to be consistent week in, week out. We cannot afford to carry players that are in the game one week and go missing the next, and Setanta has the opportunity in the next few games to string some games together that show he can perform a role for the team every week. This goes for some other players, too. No one should be immune.

On form currently, he's doing his chances no harm in getting another contract offer, but still early to say whether he deserves to be there next year and beyond.

If Santy isn't at Carlton next year then we are madder than the Irish.

i reckon so. he's showing plenty at the moment, and is still on an upward curve. is gaining confidence with every week, which is what we want to see with developing players, right?

another issue with Setanta. i am SICK AND TIRED of the derisive comments made by commentators every time he gets the ball. the laughing and hilarity that always follows, is an insult, and i for one, am flowering over it!! :banghead:

One muff-up. Is he alone? It was fantastic he spotted the option outside of his peripheral vision, he then tried to kick to a tight angle, it didn't pay off. Big flowering whoop! If Fev or Stevo had of played with his heart it was 4 points.

Doubt he will be in our next premiership team however is worth keeping on the list until Kreuzer develops into a gun CHF.
A better tall forward option than Cloke anyway.
