There were a few examples of Eddie that were great last night - two that stick out for me (in general, I can't remember all the other players involved): 1) The Lions were rebounding out of the forward 50 (think it wsa 1st quarter) and Eddie was screaming after them, even though it looked lost - he just reached the defender as they kicked and applied enough pressure for the kick to go skewiff and it rebounded into our forward 50 for a goal.... It didn't go to Eddie, and he wouldn't even technically be credited with the assist, but without that one bit of desparation, there was no goal. 2) The sky snap that grazed the post in the 1st was an amazing display of skill - and one of many times he got free.... It didn't result in a goal, but it kept the intensity up and in our favour..... |

there was a passage of play, which was probably the smartest bit of football i have seen us play for a long time. we went down the wing on one side, with a serious of kicks and handballs, got to the half forward line and there was nothing, instead of the bomb, the player stepped back looked around, went backwards, a player marked, and then this player then went to the other side and kicked to the wing, the bloke on wing marked and then kicked to someone free in the forward line, he marked, and converted. it was smart, clean and summed up the improvement in the side this year for me. was brillant. probably involved about 6 carlton players and was just clean, skillful, smart and brillant to watch. |

Yes,I loved that play too. Also, Setanta's mark....wow! Garlett in general Scottie doin' the scottie thing alll night(bravo) Thornton getting stronger each week(love to see him have a go up forward,when the time is right. Judd,movin' like a Rolls Royce..in general.breathtaking. Pretty much the whole team,playing as a team.

Also.. special mention to Shaun Hampson's arm muscles. (yes..i did mention this in post match discussion,but it they are praiseworthy.)

Santy's goal was a cracker but Hoop's goal at the end of the third qtr was sublime. |

Both Houlihan and Murphy received a kick from a team mate on centre wing when against two opponents. Both times it was thumped across the boundary line...

Just finished watching the game - thanks Foxtel  That 3rd quarter was brilliant and lots of highlights but for me the best bit of the game was Eddie pulling down Ash McGrath's shorts and bearing his arse to the world, thereby confirming what we always expected, that his arse IS in fact far prettier than his face... |
