If all the matches remaining in this round have the worst outcome for us, we will be sitting 8th, however our very good percentage should give us a good hold in that position and from there launch into the top 4 after we meet the bummers, freo & tiges in the next 3 games.

Should brisbane win, then we have played every team in the top 4 except Geelong, but have played brisbane twice. That means that we only have to play 1 top four team for the rest of the season. Win the games that we are expected to and finals will be a certainty.

we should only lose 1 game for the rest of the year

geelong

other threats would be the 2 road trips - freo and port adelaide but if we are serious , those 2 teams are pretty average

It's about time we convincingly trounced Freo, even if it is an away match. Port Adelaide are real Jeckyll & Hyde merchants. The rest we need to stamp our authority on. Cats are a different prospect altogether...but to our advantage will already be thinking finals by the time we meet and may not be as focussed. Praying we meet Pies and Saints in the finals.

Our form looks pretty good after this result today:

Hawthorn 3.3 6.5 7.7 7.9 (51) lost to Brisbane Lions 2.4 3.9 7.13 13.15 (93)

Looks like we will be 7th if the filth & the Crows win

And the crows aren't getting a march on percentage at the moment.....

All but 3/4 time and it's 5.8 to 2.5 ......

You would think we could win the next 6 but we have a young side and as such still prone to inconsistency, Id be rapt if we won 4 out of the next 6

The run home:

Essendon*
Freo - Subi
Richmond
Sydney
Collingwood
North
Geelong
Port - AAMI
Melbourne
Adelaide

Not a bad draw. 2 more away games, both against teams down the bottom end of the ladder. They are must wins. All teams except for Geelong are very winnable, in fact my one blue eye says we should win 9 more games  . No doubt we will drop 1 or 2 that we should win, but if everyone looks after themselves during the break, we should be hitting form for the run home and realistically expect to win at least 6 more games for the year.

4 games at the G, 4 at Ethiad, 1 at AAMI and 1 at Subi.

If we can bury a few hoodoo type games (Essendon*, Sydney, North) we should be pushing strongly for a finals berth this year.

The last game against Adelaide may determine if we finish in top 4 or just top 8.

Fingers crossed but I think its looking good ... but even though its a cliche its very true ... need to look at it one week at a time.

We are a young team so yes we will lose a couple that we should not ... BUT without a shred of a doubt the game against the scum next round is even more vital than the game we played against Brisbane. We must, must, must win this game and if we smash them even better ... but would take a 1 point win with a kick after the siren!

I just hope (but also feel) the playing group has turned the corner ... since the Adelaide game you cannot fault thier intensity and heart ... we just need to keep those two attributes for the rest of the season ... we do that ... with walker and Warnock in the team and really anything is possible come finals time.

We keep the intensity that we have shown the last three weeks and top 4 is a real possibility ... we don't and we may not see finals again this year.

Cmon blue boys ... keep the faith!

yeah those hoodoo games are the ones we need to win, this is how i see the remainder of the season,

Essendon* - Its time for revenge after beating us earlier in the season - WIN
Freo - Subi - Should of beaten them first time around, will be tough to beat them over there - LOSS
Richmond - Richmond will remember what we did to them Rd1, wont be as easy - WIN
Sydney - One of those hoodoo teams, home advantage should seal it - WIN
Collingwood - Different side to what played earlier in the year - LOSS
North - Another Hoodoo team, better chance than past years of beating them - WIN
Geelong - The guys will step up and push the pussycats, honourable loss - LOSS
Port - AAMI - Not sure about this one, flip a coin, going by current form - WIN
Melbourne - Closer battle than what everyone expects - WIN
Adelaide - Could be our next hoodoo team, something about the crows that gets under our noses - LOSS

Thats 6/4 for the remainder of the season. This is what would be required to make the 8, couldnt afford to drop another game.
I dont think we could afford to be 5/5 for the rest of the year as it probably would be touch and go to make the finals as we are currently 6/6 .

i am concerned about the Richmond game...we are playing the late game in Perth on Sunday, then have to front up against Richmond on Saturday afternoon...WTF?? It is close to a 5 1/2 day break between games and a long road trip back from WA...I wonder if we would have heard more complaining about this had it been the Pies??? Sorry, i forgot, they dont travel interstate.

Complain publicly and you are giving the Tigers the edge.
Do it discreetly and it does not become as much of an issue come game day for our players and there players.

Not bad.

BUT,

Freo - Fev may actually want to play. Tiges beat them @ Subi a few weeks ago. We won @ Subi last year and play very well there when we have half decent teams (beats playing @ Carrara  ). Team too inexperienced @ Carrara. Their season will be shot. WIN.

Pies - we have beaten them past 3 because, wait for it, we are BETTER than them. WIN.

3 losses from that lot, at the most.

I was looking through the archives yesterday and I could see that we were in exactly the same position last year. At the end of round 12 we were 6 wins and 6 losses. We lost to Essendon* then made it 6 and 7, we evened it up the next week to make it 7 7, I think that rounds 16-19 will be the key for our season this year. We really need wins over Sydney, North and Collingwood before we face Geelong. It was here that we lost track with the pack last. yesr.

the only game in that lot where we would struggle to win is against Geelong

All others are pretty winable, and if we were going up against any one fo them next week we'd probaby go in favourites... except Geelong.... and maybe Collingwood and Adelaide, but those 2 would be touch and go

Ratten should be eyeing off winning at least 7 of those games... and 7 is very winnable

Less than 6 would be a disappointment. 6 would be good and would get us a finals berth.

7 should see us push for top 4
