Why , dont we get Fev back to full forward and give him as much room as possible. Last season every team and everyone knew we were kicking to Fev, yet he kicked 99 goals??? So what does that tell you, give him a chance one on one with his opponent and some space and more often than not he will get it!
Play Betts next to him in the forward 50 and thats it! If people want to sag off and drop back, play people like Stevens and or Houla around the HFF and let them kick over the top and goal.
Im not saying bomb the ball to Fev blindly, im saying when we look up we need someone leading up to the ball and if they clog up the forward line for him... kick it to someone else. I just think him being down there draws players to him hence opening up other options. Having him around the midfield is useless, you may as well drop him.
He is a Full Forward, arguably the best going around... give him space and kick to him when he is one on one. If not, the other dumb * in our forward line need to get visible to the midfielders and get used.

Amen to that brother Hollywood.

I think that there is a difference between not being too fev conscious and not playing him at full forward. There should never be a reason to play your full forward anywhere else but full forward. Sure we need to find avenues to goal, but you don't close Flinder's street to get more people to use Flinder's Lane. You use Flinder's St as much as possible and Flinder's Lane when Flinder's Street is too congested.

 ... nice one.

It's maintaining structures isn't it ... not all getting sucked down the ground.

For me, it also means giving the player coming through the middle
1. more than one target so that if Fev is being double teamed or has led early or is in the wrong position there is someone else to go to and
2. giving that player the licence to go to another target without copping a spray from Fev because let's face it, you're a first or second year player and Fev goes off his nana at you, you're probably going to try and go to him next time whether it's the right thing to or not ... human nature

Just on that last point, I've seen that happen with Yarran ... he tries to go to Betts (his mentor) often and when it's really not an option. Young kids try and please, we all did.
