Is this year his year? He seems to be doing really well and I've been thinking about making this thread for over a week but I kinda felt superstitous (sp?). I made it coz I think this is his year.

One game at a time, Sami.

For mine, there are a few players who I'm going to re-assess at Round 10.
Lance is one of them.
Davies is another.
Livingston is one.
Chambers is one.

As I said, I was scepticle on making this thread, but he seems to be doing great guns!

Yeah I think there are a few that could do with a load of good games too.

What I meant with re-assessing the above mentioned players was watch them play the first 10 rounds and then do a short analysis on each player and how they have fared over the first 10 rounds.

He hasn't played this well since his AA year in 2000.
Last year he couldn't jump.
This year he can.
Last he would struggle to kick multiple goals consistently.
This year he can.
Last few years he hasn't had a pre season.
This year he has.

Totally transformed and is almost a new recruit for us.

Keep up the good performances, Lance.

What happened to waiting 10 rounds and then making a judgement?

It's great to see the old Whitnall back again. I had forgotten just how good he really was. :D

That post was based on what we have already seen.

Oh and good to see you over here from the Asylum, Toader.

Bugger the round 10 thing. That's for wusses PJ!

I'll say it here and now:

Lance to become the first player in history (I think) to win the Coleman / Brownlow / Norm Smith medal in one year (2005).

And I might even throw the Michael Bloody Tuck medal in there for good measure.

Note: predictions for illustration purposes only. Any resemblance to Ponkstar's actual predictions for the abovementioned medals may or may not be purely coincidental, depending on the actual results...

Don't tell me I've stolen someone elses ID? And here I thought I was being so original.

(The first person to question how using a character from a TV Show is actually original will quickly recieve an angry smilie in punishment. Don't tell me I didn't warn ya!)

You are the Hypnotoad from the Asylum yes?

Ponky - If he were to win all three, that would be the biggest turn around in AFL/VFL history.

What about the rising star award? We can't forget that one. He's got to be the favourite (or at least just behind Colin Slyvia if certain Melbourne posters at bigfooty are to be believed. He's apparently better than Voss  )

He was actually robbed of that award in his debut year.......wasn't that Demetriou's first year in the AFL?????

He's actually called HypnoToad? I blame Futurama for being so god damn funny. Maybe I should've checked every AFL forum before I decided to be creative (or plagiarise depending on your POV).

Lets be negative for a second. The question about Lance should be, can he sustain this kind of form over the entire season? The way he's throwing his body around it might just not hold up to the stresses of a full AFL season. We can only hope I'm wrong but Lance's injury history suggests otherwise. However, that said, the injuries Lance suffered could've been a result of the extra weight he has been carrying. Trying to run and jump around carrying that kind of weight couldn't have been kind to his body.

The majority of lances injuries (shoulder, knee) were a result of collision based injuries - not something that was a result of carrying too much weight. If we followed that line of reasoning, we should have been calling for wiggins to lose a few pounds after he got his shoulder/collarbone smashed last season.

I'm of the opinion that injuries reduced Lance's ability to train/prepare properly and hence control his weight. The resulting lack of motivation etc further compounded this. its not surprising that whitnall has regained form after completing one of his first injury free preseasons for a long while.

And most of those collisions if not all were with teammates too.

I might be wrong, but isn't Lance out of contract at the end of the year? Compound that with the fact that there was little interest for him in the trade & his future is on the line.

Lance HAS to have a good year. Go Big Red

Lance has firmed in the Brownlow Medal betting from 500:1 pre-wizard games to 150:1 now.

Was I dreaming, or did I read a post from somebody on TBV (pre-implosion) that they had $250 on Red to win $125K?

If so, that 's looking like quite a good bet right now!
