I am heading over to adelaide on the weekend for the game but after booking a 7am flight with Tiger, they moved it to 12pm which arrives in adelaide at 1pm.

I have been told there is only really one road into the ground and I will be hiring a car...... so for anyone that lives in Adelaide (or has been there before) are there any short cuts or good places to park that may make sure I make the start of the game (after car hire I will have 1 hr from the airport)!?!?!?!

Any help would be great!!!

from the airport to west lakes shopping centre is roughly a 20 minute trip..

Parking maywell be your down fall as you might have to walk a couple of blocks depending on where you park...

if you are lucky the carparks may not be full and a fee for parking there may see you ok...

best bet to find ya way there and the quickest

turn left at sir donald bradman drive

turn right at tapelys hill road

turn left on trimmer parade

then turn right on fredrick rd

then turn left on brebner drive

then right on turner drive

this will bring you into the west lakes shopping carpark which is oppisite the stadium

cheers

Why are you hiring a car ? Just grab a cab. A lot quicker.

Where you staying or are you planning a trip somewhere so require a car?

I'd cab it there, catch the bus back to where you're staying (good fun in Carlton gear when we win).

Forget the car, they have a wonderful horse and cart service, and a special rack for penny farthings.

I agree with sjabc, don't hire a car unless you are going to the Barossa or something over the weekend.

Catch a cab to the ground and bus it home.

Getting a park there is harder than it was at Waverly.

There is no point in trying to park in the carpark because you will be there for hours (believe me).

One of the joys of Adelaide.

I heard one of their top tourist attractions was a cruise down the Adelaide River on a sunny afternoon.

Good to hear there is Buses after the game!

I assume they come back into the City? Do any buses go from City to Ground????

Three pieces of advice:

1) Get a GPS.
2) Get a coin and spit proof car if they see a Carlton supporter emerge from it.

I know that's only two, but I am trying to acclimatise you to what to expect in Adelaide.

Did the trip last year and learned very fast not to show my Carlton jumper on the "AAMI EXPRESS"... Hiring a car this time to go to Barossa on the Sunday as not much to do in town and I have a 7pm flight....

Thanks everyone for the help.. I'll have the AAMI speciality, a snag around the concourse (the best part of the AAMI journey last year v. Adelaide) for each of you!

My biggest tip would've been to not fly with Tiger, they pull this sort of shit all the time.
