Haven't got the link but Walls writes today about our last 6 and how they don't measure up against the better sides. His six I think were Wiggins, Houlihan, Cloke, Russell, Thornton, and one other...?? Wiggins might surprise some but I agree to the extent his kicking for goal lets him and the team down. It's inexcusable really, given the amount of experience Chief now has. I'm sure the man himself would agree he should be getting the sort of shots he misses. Thornton is the other surprise, but again I can see some merit in what Wallsy is saying. Thornton is not a gun, we all know that now, and he does have a temperament issue sometimes, see the 'double goals' to Essendon*. The only thing I think Wallsy missed in his article, was he should have talked about the players with talent we have missing right now or who were out last week, ie: Grigg, Walker, Warnock, Hampson, Yarran, Hadley etc, as these types will almost surely replace the Worst Six in the next 1-2 years. |

I agree that Wiggins' kicking lets him down. He does, however, bring a mongrel quality to the team that we need atm. OhAilpin should be replaced by Austin and only used when we have injuries to certain players. We will be a better side when we can pick a team that doesn't need Houla. Russell shouldn't be in our top 25 Cloke should be pushed out by Hammer, Sauce and Kreuz. His forward spot will hopefully be taken by Yazza. |

We've lost two of our games by a total of 8pts, could have/should have been 5/1 and our 'bottom six' are crapola. Stkilda has won all 6 and acc to Walls their 'bottom six' are potential champs while ours are chumps. I'm not sure he could flog this horse or himself any harder. Tiresome. |

Finally somebody has the balls to say what we've all been thinking. And say what has been shot down by so many people on this forum. The best thing that can come from this article is these players try to prove that they aren't the "bottom 6". I think Thornton has been relishing our poor defense as he is an automatic selection every week. Maaaaaaaaaaaybe a bit harsh on Wiggins though. However, he has been quiet lately when compared to the first few games of the season. |

With all except one (Houla) playing this weekend...(oops 2 - Setanta was the 6th) At least Wallsy is firing up our players this year rather than our opposition as he did last year.... |

Until he does that, he will always have a worry factor in finals let alone any game. Wallsy point, although he didn't say it, is that these bottom six players are lacking in skill and this can hurt the side when it matters. |

I don't think he is saying the St.K lads are superstars. In reality they have probably just fitted into the game plan well, and this hides deficiencies as individuals. Throw Ray into the Kangas team and he will look a spud. We have lost by close margins, and one could argue it's when the Wiggins' miss easy shots, and the Russells lose their feet near goal, that we lose these games. It's not because Fevola kicks 8 and misses 1 at the death. |

I do it differently my simple theory of football is this - the side that had the most less than 10 possession winners loses. That bottom group can change week by week. Its amazing how accurate this stat it. |

Looking forward to the Spirit of Carlton golf day when Wallsy is put in the group with Thornton, Hoops and Fev. Hole 1 - T-Bird ...'Shit, sorry Rob - didn't mean to collect you - worst 6 iron i've hit this year' Hole 2 - Hoops double bogeys 'Put me down for a 6 - guess we're just not up to par, fellas' Hole 3 - Fev off the tee lets go of club 'Shit, sorry Rob...dunno what happened - must have been my grip' Hole 4 - Walls rewrites article. |

Judging by what he says in the article and the bottom six of the other teams, I'm pretty sure he means Bottom six of the more regular players and those who have been given ample time in the system. Under those stipulations, he is spot on with who he has chosen. |

I think WORST six is a bit harsh but I see his point. The issue is for us to go to the next level our bottom six players every week need to step up. IMO the reason we have lost to Sydeny, Essendon* & Hawthorn is that we have had some great effforts from players but on these occassions a few players have been well below par and let the side down. To be a very good side we need an even performance week in week out. Even when some players are struggling they still need to contribute. |

Walls obviously rates Armfield, Joseph and Bentley very highly. He's getting old. |

I think he based the article on the regular players that have been there for some time Houlihan 168 games Thornton - 130 + Wiggins - 109 games Cloke 53 games Ohalpin - 48 games Russell - 53 games Long enough to be the core group in the team He is spot on and Simpson is not far off it and Fisher was another one - they just dont step up when needed |

What about Bentick? Bannister? They've all played over 50 games. So have Fisher and Hadley. He just picked 6 players from the last game without giving it a lot of thought really. He's a constant cracked record these days. |
