Good article, loved the props to the mid-90s on-ball group, nice to see them put up there with Lions and Cats.

Also check out the PDF graphic where Hirdy illustrates some of the tactics used at centre bounces. Good meaty stuff - more please!

Great article, very insightful graphics on the centre bounce setups.

Substitute Stevens for Hadley and he's spot on.

Great to read an article actually about football.

Editors take note, articles like this are what we want to read; not the sensationalistic crap your hacks usually put out.

James Hird wrote:
With this talent at his disposal, Ratten is not likely to tag through the midfield any time soon.

I don't believe it is his philosophy, either. During a game in 2001 I remember Ratten having a go at me for letting Kevin Sheedy tag him. He said: "Tell Sheeds to get this bum off me and let's go head to head."

Ratts was having a tough day at the office, with Chris Heffernan keeping him quiet. My response was something like: "No worries, Brett. I will let him know at halftime."

At halftime I pulled Sheeds aside and said: "Keep Heff on Ratten. I think we've got him, coach."

Didn't really work out for Hirdy and Sheeds did it? Considering we beat the Scum both times in 2001.

Some have put Hadley in our "Fab Four", some have put Stevens in.

The true fourth member of our "Fab Four" is Kreuzer.

Non-Carlton people don't realise just how good he is going to be.

You think Dean Cox redefined the ruckman's role?

You 'aint seen nothing yet.

Poor old Haddles can't take a break, he only just got in there you know!

I actualy think Hadley is of more value to us than Stevens because he offers more of what we need, hard ball gets. Stevens is a good user of the ball, but we have a few of those now.....

Hadles should be part of the fab 4.

pity he couldn't come up with his own catch phrase though... And it's interesting that in this article, Hadlee is included! Hun - make up your mind - who are our Fab Four or should it be our Famous Five??

..not too mention that the Krooz is gonna be part of it the more he improves.. ..plus he's the real exception to the rule when it concerns ruckmen.. ..he's progressing at the rate of onballers.. ...amazing stuff..

Exactly.

From what i can gather in last weeks broadcast of the game he wasn't that encouraging about our midfield

Why would the next president of the Bombers write such an article...... yes rumor has it that there are plans to spill the current board...... its amazing what you hear around windy hill cafes
