Pros: Judd was fantastic for the most part. He's an absolute champion. Wiggins was very good, at times. Fevola had 12 shots on goal. Eddie Betts was our best forward over 4 quarters and is looking real sharp in 2009. Mitch Robinson, Aaron Joseph etc showed plenty early on. We get another crack next week. Cons: From his 12 shots, Fev only kicked 4. Tough to isolate him like this, but that cost us the game. Mitch and a few of the younger guys went missing for large parts of the game, they'll get better. We allowed Essendon* to outplay us. Four quarter tackling pressure not to a high enough standard. Garlett for Scotland (effectively) was a mistake, it seems. The players, coahces, and everyone, believed the hype. I @#$%&! hate Essendon*. |

I knew Wiggin's inability to kick a set shot from 15 metres would cost us games this season. |

Pathetic Against bottom 4 team Too cocky too overhyped Shocking conversion rate Lost 4 times to Essendon* Outcoached Let down whole supporter base People who have been supporting through the dark years deserve BETTER |

Pros: To me the underdog theory (in Carl Ess games) is now confirmed and means we can use these games to rest key players with the confidence of getting the four points. Cons: We didn't apply this tactic tonight and so started favourites and envitably lost... ![]() |

some long hard looks into the mirror tonight. there will be some very disappointed carlton people in the inner sanctum. PROS 1. Judd's a freak (although he was labouring toward the end) 2. Kreuzer's a freak 3. Joseph's handy 4. Jacobs is handy 5. Betts has lifted to another level Deep breath....... CONS 1. Pressure/tackling - WOEFUL!!!!!!!! where did the heat go. they walked around us like witches hats. forget bad kicking, this is where we lost. How many F50 tackles tonight? 2. Our game plan - If we hugged the boundary any more I might've got a few touches in the Southern stand. Essendon* played corridor footy and blitzed through. We bombed along the line - who let Pagan into the box? 3. Team Selection and leaving out Setanta - We missed Jarrad Waite tonight so badly, even though he was actually playing. Setanta had to mind a tall to leave Waitey free. In hindsight it hurt. Setanta should have played for garlett, would have given us more drive 4. Shots for goal from WIDE angles - yeah, we kicked badly for goal, but look where we kicked from. Fev had 8 shots from the fence. We need to play the corridor. 5. A few individual horrors - simmo's start to the year has been poor, wiggins does everything right but misses goals we'd kick on our left which is pathetic, hads a game to forget, chris johnson made several shockers (is his pinpoint passing worth all the crap?) People will talk about the umpires, they were poor at times, but in reality - we were disgraceful. absolutely weak. |

Pros: 1. Judd Cons: 1. No scoreboard pressure - we should have been 8 - 9 goals ahead at quarter time. 2. Tackling was woeful - not enough pressure around the ground. 3. Team selection - Scotland and Setanta should have been in (for Garlett and Joseph). 4. Out coached - we needed Gibbs in the middle - especially in the last quarter. 5. Umpires - that free against Thornton was a disgrace - cost us two goals. |

Should've been a romp The worst part is, I didn't bother going somewhere to watch the game on TV cause I knew this was going to happen, and I thought the radio would dull the pain. It didn't. |

Should've been a romp and yet we beat them more often than not during those dark years...the quicker we forget about this one the better. |

Pros... Jacobs I thought did ok vs Hille for most of the game Judd was very good but lacked support. Robbo had a crack and deosnt give up There is always next week... Cons... We dont learn, Essendon* play the same game plan of constant running using their superior pace to run us off our legs and we lost our cool and cracked under that pressure again. Thornton didnt knock Davey out...missed opportunity. Grigg didnt give more of a workover to Lovett as they tangled before half time. |

I agree with those saying Garlett should have been dropped last week. However, I thought Aaron Jospeh played his best game for us this week. Sure, he's a third gamer and he made a few errors under pressure, but I reckon he showed more this week than in the first two rounds. ![]() |

Pro: We got a lot of the ball Con: We played along the railway line! Look it isn't hard, they run through the middle, the turn into the middle, they look to the middle - so why did so many of our players always run to cover the flanks? The very thing that beats the filth gives the bummers a real sniff. |

It costs us dearly. |

I'm sick. Of losing to Essendon* 2 losses last year cost us a finals appearance and this shocking half effort could also cost us dearly Could have been in the top echelon of clubs to win 3-0 but now back in the pack and an also ran team As pathetic a loss as first round against Tigers last year Why after the number of losses over the last 5 years aren't these players hungry and looking to inflict serious pain on clubs like Essendon* Why aren't we up against Essendon* -why are we continually using a gameplan where they exploit us Why can't we have players who kick goals -we are shockingly inefficient in front of goals and have been for 8 years |

Agree whole heartedly with Frank PROS Judd Fev (apart from some kicking) Sauce showed something and Big K very courageous CONS Why do the players think we are such a good side. yet again a bottom four side beat us while we stand back and wait Kick out strategy...sorry we don't have one. It would be easier to get out of H division at Pentridge than the Essednon forward line. How about quick positive and decisive kick outs. We have only had all summer to work out a strategy, how about we do it now Coaching staff. We've had a year to prepare and failed to rookie coach. Knights totally outcoached us with inferior team reactive allowed Dons to dictate They played the corridor we didn't Wiggo was good but he consistently misses sodas and that is not forgiveable for a 100 game AFL player. His miss tonight was a turning point Backline, undersized, Lloyd killed us. Thornton ordinary. Waite is not a key dfender. He is very good as loose man but when matched up against a big forward he struggles. Why didn't we move him forward? Ball movement - Fev was slaughtering Daniher one on one so why was the plan to try and take as long as possible to move the ball and then to avoid kicking it to him one out Lack of leadership - Stevens wanted to be captain well he and a few others need to lead. Get in get your own ball instead of waiting wide for easy possessions. Gibbs is very classy and still young but I'd like to see a bit more Joel Selwood in him. Needs to get in and get the ball and not wait to receive Cloke good battler but too slow for a key forward Johnson, handy but not good enough man on man for a half back. Desperately need a classy running half back Soft - not enough players willing to tackle or do the hard things. If it wasn't for Judd we'd be back talking about PPs |
