Post subject:  So

So at the end of this we axe what? 9 players?

And draft say 7 kids and two blokes from other clubs (this includes promoting rookies).

Hartlett, Russell, Becker, Smith, Setanta & Batson will all be a year older and stronger (Raso in the wings still?).

So really the players we have start putting on the park next year and adding to are something like this

Bryan Livo Carrots

Houla T-Bird Russell

Walker Stevens Simmo

Lappin Waite Campo

Betts Fevola De Luca

French Kouta Bentick

Smith, Chambers, Longmuire, Setanta

Point I'm making here is that maybe Pagan is just giving some of the kids another year while developing Carrots, T-Bird, Walker, Bentick and Simmo.

This team has no drafts picks from the end of this year (so imagine a young gun (or 2 for the sailorman) and a few more good picks, plus Raso, Becker and some others in the wings... we are maybe going better than we think?

Course ir depends of Bryan, On becker and Smith, and so on.

Still I'm not feeling as bad today, maybe Denis has a very clear picture of what he is doing.

I reckon we have found a real talent in Anthony Raso.

Watched him at training a few times and his kicking is generally pretty good.`Same goes with marking.

And his goal kicking...barely misses.

Once he fully develops....look out!!!

Ditto, I thought the same thing when I saw Raso for the first time last Thursday. Looks a real prospect and the only thing he has to do is add 20 kgs of muscle. But do Raso and Russell go hard at the ball or are they like Houlihan?

Phew...I thought you were going to start speculating on which 9 then dannyboy.

I agree with the thoughts that we need the right players out there for others to be effective.

Teague is the classic example. Need a 2nd KD so he can take the 3rd or 4th option. This also releases Whitnall to the forward line full-time which takes pressure off Fev and Waite.

Need a in and under on-baller to help Kouta get the ball out to Campo and Stevens etc. They'll be more effective then and can bring others into the game

You may not be able to see him smile this week (see other thread), but Im sure Teague and Thornton will be happy to see Livo back this week. Surely it has to happen. We can no longer have Teague on their second most dangerous forward; not for his sake, but for team balance.

Is Livo zippy enough for Welsh?

There certainly seems to have been a consious decision made to not play the 2004 draftees this season. Hartlett at least has commented once in print that he was told to prepare for next year and concentrate on getting his playing weight up. If so I applaud that strategy. We had guys like Simpson and Bentick who deserved the chance to prove themselves first. We can kick the 2004 lot in the deep end next year (or towards the end of the year if the season goes even further south if that's possible)

Why would he back this week if there was no VFL last week?

Livingston has slow reflexes and slow legspeed.

raso will be good, just got to have a bit of patience.
has decent skills and you can see the frame is there for him to be a decent kpp but atm its like watching a stick figure run around.

Chris bryan needs a go, regardless of his attude, because barney fit or not needs a chop out.

How could he have played with him at "Old Hailerbury" if he's still doing year 12 at Hailerbury?

Sounds like your talking sh*t!

I've been meaning to go down and watch him play with Haileybury but just can't seem to find the time! I've heard that they are playing him a bit in defense???????

Saw Jesse Smith train the other week. Looked to have some poise, skill & good disposal (I realise it was only training). Any takers? Can someone enlighten me on this boy?

Raso sounds promising but I have to get on my hobby horse again..75kg..thats a very light starting weight...thats a lot of spuds and pasta required...especially if he plays a Key spot.

I figured about 10 players should be axed and thats being conservative...
