Early days I know, but I noticed that not only are we on top of the ladder but we have also won the most quarters this year with 6 out of 8. Still too early to gauge a line, however as the season progresses it will be interesting to keep an eye on this ratio.

With six quarters won we are on target to win 66 for the year. Geelong managed 65 last year and 64 the year before that, the only team to crack 60 in the past five years.

54 quarters won will pretty much guarantee a top 4 spot. 46 quarters won should be enough to get us into the top 8. Teams that miss the eight average only 36 quarters won a season, and the bottom side has averaged 28 for the past five years.

Only one team has made the eight in the past five seasons with less than 40 quarters won, Port Adelaide with 35 in 2005.

In 2006 Geelong somehow missed the finals with 46 quarters won.

With those two the only exceptions in the past five years, an aim of 46 for finals and 54 for top 4 is a feasible assumption.

If we are aiming for finals, we have 40 quarters left to be won. Come Round 6, after we've played the Bulldogs, Sydney and Hawthorn, we should have a good idea of how close we really are.

Of the quarters we've lost, the first against Brisbane was only by 1 point.

It is so nice to look at the ladder.
All the old bastards like myself will remember when it was just the norm for Carlton to be on top and stay on top.
The Hearald-Sun has an extended ladder with things like:
Qrts won 6/8 (equal 1st)
Time in from 90% (equal 2nd)
Players used 22 - lowest in comp

Ah, stats that bring warmth to ones soul.

The only quarter stat that really matters is how many 4th quarters we lead at

13 per the Herald-Sun ladder which makes 33 to go in 17 games.

Third on the ladder and third most quarters won and also in time in the lead according to that ladder at 69%.

Slowed down a bit. Up to 30 now.

16 quarters need to be won in the next 8 games. :fight:

How about we turn the focus to games won instead?

I figure we're on target for 47 at this stage. 1 more than my magical 46 I predicted at the start of April as to what we'd need to make the eight.

if we're only winning 50% of the quarters remaining this year, lets hope we win them by around 5goals each. Percentage is good, and hopefully it'll help us in the final standings.

As of the game against the Tiggers, we have won a total of 32 qtrs of football out of possible 60 qtrs for the season.

53% ATM.

Put that down to Ratten's coaching, and the inclusion of Bentley :donk:

In the commentary on Sunday they mentioned that we are the best performed 4th quarter team in the competition.
