In addition to the recent small article on this event in the Age, a number of versions of this story are likely to be told in the lead-up to the 100 year anniversary of the 1910 Bribery Scandal. Attached is is a link to one submitted by a new author to the Blueseum, one who has devoted a substantial amount of research time on Doug Fraser and Alex Lang in particular:

Interestingly, there is likely to be some discussion on this event (potentially with a different conclusion) in Tony De Bolfo's upcoming Carlton book.

As an aside, historically speaking its quite humorous that there is a Bribery Scandal surrounding Carlton players potentially 'playing dead' in the only year that Collingwood defeated Carlton in a Grand Final, which itself is almost 100 years ago. Since that time of course, Carlton has defeated Collingwood in 5 Grand Finals.

The new author of this piece, Craig Mackie, will be writing 3 parts to the story.

Parts 2 & 3 now up in advance of the 100 year anniversary of this event.

The article was put together by a budding football author, but a non-Carlton author at that!

One post script to this....

Modern day: just adding a new 1916 player to the front page of the BZM (a means by which we try to highlight great past players to users - as a means of enticing people 'inside')....

And we come to Bongo. Mr Lang, perhaps, given his Premierships.

One of the 3 accused.

Stands out from 1911-1915, missing two flags....

Yet returns, honourably, in 1916, performs well.

Commitment of a guilty man? or Commitment of an innocent Bluebagger?

Fascinating to consider....
