I am not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but is Carltons Tasmanian representation tonight of 3 players a record?

Further, to have 2 players from the same team in Tasmania making their joint debut seems unique.

We may have gone close with Greg Towns/Percy Jones/Brent Crosswell. This might be one for the Bluseum?

Perhaps Tasmania is on the wrong jumper?

I'm sure they're looking into it.

Mind you, Tasmania is also taking over the national test team with Ponting and Hilfenhaus soon to be joined by Geeves, so it's just the beginning of the end for the mainland really.

Tasmania is also taking over Mike and Dan. So we also are in charge of the 'intellectual grunt' behind the Club

The Chief has serious pull in Tasmania.

There were 5 in this game!

We also had 3 Blues as late as late 1979.

OK - I get Towns, Percy, Pickett - who were the other two?

Thanks i had forgotten all about Tony Pickett and Leigh McConnon.

I think that they might in fact have made their debut at about the same time.

For some reason a Collingwood game at PP rings a bell circa 1976.

Young, Jones, Pickett, McConnon and Towns were all Tasmanian.

Si if Tassy ends up fielding a team in the AFL we will be under a bit of pressure to give back players like Robinson.

We could be in trouble if Richmond ask for a head count.

All jokes aside the high preponderance of Tasmanians representing Carlton over the years and in particular during the 70's is most likely the reason for the high support level in that State.

The game against the Hawks the other year is a case in point.

No it's because Carlton rocked in the years that followed the in-breeding boom of the 1970's.

IMHO , Brent Crosswell is the best Tasmanian to represent The Blues. He was a favourite of mine and i still had a soft spot for Brent even after he left for the Roos & Demons.
