Quote:
Carlton made application to the AFL today to transfer Rob Warnock from the primary list to the long term injury list. Warnock has had a set back in his recovery from a foot stress fracture and it was decided to place him on the long term injury list to ensure he has time to fully recover from the injury.

"Obviously it is disappointing for Rob and for Carlton but we are looking after his long-term interests in ensuring he fully recovers from this injury before he returns to training. It is certainly a set back but we have always believed Rob is a ten year player for the Carlton Football Club and it is important we continue to look at the benefit we believe he will bring to the club in the long-term," said General Manager Football Operations, Steven Icke.

At this stage the club has not applied to elevate a player from the Rookie list to replace Warnock on the primary list.

you would think that Jacobs, Joseph and Garlett will all be nominated

Welcome to the big time Sam Jacobs.

Will be interesting to see whether they pick him or Hampson for Rd 1.

Without Warnock, my Round 1 team has the following rotating:

Jacobs first ruck/ defensive/ fwd
Kreuzer CHF / fwd ruck/ ruck
Hampson FP/ fwd ruck/ ruck

Kreuzer and Hampson give us pace and mobility that Jacobs has missing.

Can see Jacobs spending the most time on the interchange.

Pace gives us first use or negating ability and Hampson and Kreuzer ooze with that quality. No good being second to the ball and/or not being able to defend it.

I reckon between them they could deliver 5-6 goals per game (hopefully regularly). Well they would if the mobile Warnock was available for the 1st ruck.

Geez the future is all blue skies for me.

Jacobs enables us to continue with the strategy of destabilising opposition set ups with mismatches; I like that :donk:

Stupid question, but what happens to the rookie which is elevated for him when he returns from the LTI list ??? Do we have to specify which rookie is elevated for Warnock ???

Il'd like to see Jacobs and Joseph be the rookies elevated for the lack of Veterans, and Gartlett to replace Warnock. This way we have a good look at Gertlett while Warnock is recovering, and he will be available for the mid year elevation if he can handle the game at AFL level already. I personally think he needs some time in the VFL to gain some weight, but if he proves he is up for the task during a "practice run" while Warnock is on the LTI list then fantastic, give him the full elevation at the midway mark.

Does placing Warnock on the LTI rule him out from playing in the VFL?

I hope the decision to place Warnock on the LTI is partly a list management decision ahead of a serious setback.

Warnock wasn't going to play in the first half of the season, so I hope my cynicism is correct and we upgrade three rookies.

Garlett, Jacobs and Joseph.

I think the list is missing someone...but it would kinda ruin your pattern to include him

Hampson has more physical ability in terms of agility and running etc but Jacobs is more of a footballer but lacks that agility...gee a mix of both would be super.
