I always find these teams to be amusing.

This year they have Grigg as a reserve, not even good enough to be an Emergency.

And they have Fisher ahead of Cloke at CHF.

Laughable.

They (the HUN) are doing a live blog thing with the guy who did that team. He keeps repeating that the club have Bower ahead of Grigg for a back six position.

He seems to be pigeon-holing Grigg as a defender. In contrast I think Grigg has genuine upside as a midfielder. I know there's not many midfield spots up for grabs at the minute (that said if he could eliminate his 'floaters' he could threaten to take Walker's wing), but surely Grigg can find a spot on the bench.

He can't even find him a spot as an Emergency

Hey VB. Any chance of you typing in the side? I haven't seen the paper today.
Can't seem to find it anywhere either.
Thanks!

Walker as an emergency says it all. Nice bloke Bruce Matthews, don't rate his footy knowledge though.

Bruce knows his tennis inside and out - he'll get some footy stuff right as well, but I don't expect him to be able to pick the teams who didn't make the 8 in '08.

Doesn't give the team but it does give this gem

Quote:
Already a fan favourite after a couple of solid performances in the NAB Cup, Robinson knows how to get the hard ball, is fearless and instinctively celebrates a goal.

He just has that elite ability to know exactly when and how to shake that fist after a goal?

Perhaps the fact Clokes opponent had 20 possessions to half time swayed their opinion.

Fair call, but Cloke was offensively one of our better players on the night (despite poor shooting at goal) and Fisher did SFA.

And in any event, it's not all about quantity of touches. We used to get plenty of ball across half back under Pagan, but it didn't go forward much

Honestly, I didn't think Taylor tore us a new one on the weekend. Right now, I'd have thought Cloke is sufficiently ahead of Fisher in the general pecking order.

Taylor tore Cloke a big one in the first half, lucky for Cloke Scarlett was subbed and Taylor went back onto Hampson for the second half. Cloke was much better in the second half.

I think Cloke is the best option we have, for the moment, at CHF. However, i don't like the fact that the last 4 games have probably produced the 2 BOG's playing on him at the time.

The thing is i've never noticed Fisher's opponents getting BOG, could that be they are respecting his ability a bit more

More likely that the opposition doesn't rate Fisher enough to put someone decent on him.

I was going to make a thread like this but got held up at uni (damn you uni !!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Sorry but this team is laughable !!!!!!!!!

For me Browne or Armfield will make better small backs than Carazzo, who should be rotated through the midfield !!!!!!

Thornton at CHB says it all !!!!!!!!!!! He should be played on the 3rd tall not CHB !!!!!!!!!! And I know what they are trying with Stevens on the HB line, but il'd still prefer him on the wing or through the middle than as a loose man in defence.

Kreuzer as our #1 ruck is a sure way to ruin the kid. Play him up forward and have him ruck inside 50 if you want him to ruck at all

Fisher at CHF is a joke. He is 3rd tall AT BEST, and is at leat our 3rd or 4th option for that spot IMO. Wiggins on the bench is also a joke considering that Walker and Griggs couldn't even make the side.

For me, our BEST side with ALL players available would be

Armfield/Browne.. Jamison ............ Thornton
Scotland ............. Bower ............. Grigg
Waite ..................Gibbs...............Walker
Houlihan..............Cloke.................Kreuzer
Betts....................Fev..................Yarren
Warnock..............Judd..................Murphy

Hampson, Carazzo, Simpson, Stevens

EMG

Browne, Robinson, Wiggins, Hadley

(I have Armfield JUST ahead of Browne for the small defender role)

There is A LOT more pressure for spots this year than there has in YEARS. Robinson will get plenty of games this year, Johnson will be pushing for Scotlands spot on the half back line, Waite will need to be played in defence at time so Hadley or Simpson will be pushing for the spot on the wing when that occurs. The small defender spot is up for grabs between Armfield and Browne, the tagger role could go to Anderson or Joseph (if he gets a promotion that is), the CHF role could go to Cloke, Waite if we can release him from defence, Fisher (Hope not) or we could go in without a traditional CHF player all together.

But hey, these are just my uneducated opinions and are probably VASTLY different to the MC's !!!!!!!!

I'm glad you agree Cloke is our best option at CHF

Sorry, didn't realise Taylor was the make or break for the Geelong backline. Taylor plays 22 rounds and the rest fall over then Geelong has the premiership in the bag
