So I take it that Krooz didn't suffer any damage to the ankle?

Will be interesting to see if the Hawk come to play this week. Would love them to come at least 80% switched on so we can see where we are.

I hope we continue with a very similar team, with maybe Hadley for Yarran, Hammer for Kreuzer the only changes.

Should see Walker and Hadley get a run this week then.

I would like to see Walker, Hadley, Browne, Hampson and Austin playing......fingers crossed.

Hopefully the Hawks play their best available side and give 100% as it would be a good test for us.

I'd rather test ourselves against anyone rather than Melbourne

It's only a practise game, with a bit more intensity given its against the reigning premiers.

I remember round 22 when Cloke and Fisher looked very slow in the forwardline. With the added pace in the forwardline of (assuming they play) Robinson and Garlett, this will not compensate too much because they are skinny bodies playing against one of the 2 toughest and most physical challenges in the AFL.

Nevertheless, it would be fair to have a look at Fisher.

I'm assuming Kreuzer will play, so I'd suggest the following changes to last week's team:

OUT: Yarran (inj) Bentley, Anderson and Joseph
IN: Hampson, Hadley, Fisher and Austin.

I wonder if they will rest Fev. If there's a player we can't afford to get injured or overworked at this time of year, it's him. And by not playing Fev, it will force us to explore other avenues to goal, which will have longer-term benefits for the side...

I agree.....it is an ideal opportunity to trial other players and hopefully become less predictable.

I really can't work this logic out. We need to explore other avenues to goal whilst Fev is playing. This week is a good opportunity to do it and that other avenue to goal should be whoever lines up on Luke Hodge. He loves leaving his man.

Agree I think we should also rest Fev and for that matter the juddster as well -we seem to be the only team playing all their guns in February - we want them winning games for us in the regular season not the comedy cup and in particular July /August -as suggested in another post if Judd continues to take the main extractor role in all matches including the comedy cup -he is going to be very battered by July/ August -surely you dont need to tune a Rolls Royce every week

We also want Fev kicking 6 against Richmond in 4 weeks time and Juddy dominating to get us across the line against Richmond not dominating a quarter strength Hawthorn backline and midfield in a practice match in Feb

It would be good to see some of the second tier players stepping up here and try to take us to victory -Fisher -ff Cloke chf -russell and wigins hff - gartlett Eddie and Houlihan as crumbers

These guys wont step up if Fev is there too easy to be bit players if he is there

-Hawthorn will be undermanned on Sunday -no Hodge -Franklin unlikely et al

Give Hadley Austin bentick hampson a go - lets try Austin as a forward

These matches should showcase new and emerging talent not prove that Judd and Fev are guns we already know that- yes they need to be match fit for round one BUT lets not kill the golden goose here -couldnt believe on Friday when we were about 80 points up -Fev was still on the ground and the juddster 'RESTING" in the forward pocket

Out Yarran Kreuz if injured judd and fev

This logic again. The blokes up the field need to find other options whilst Fev is in the team. How does it fix the problem by taking Fev out? Fev if fit, is going to play every game barring another pissing against a wall incident. The bit players and the feeders of the bit players need to practice it with FEV in the team. FEV is going to be in the team all year.
Fev needs to play. I'd be happy to rest Judd because we have many players who we can rotate in the middle.

Why after one game would anyone need a rest - I think you need most of your good players in to see how the fringe players work with them - No good having a bunch if kids getting belted when they could have the support of most of the senoir list

Waite is the fall back if Fev gets injured - sure he is not as good as Fev but who is - shuffle the back line arounD and bring in Setanta or Austin or even play Walker back in that role

No Fev - No worries

We would be in massive trouble if Fev went down. Let's not kid ourselves.

I'm not sure if it will be this week, but I'd be surprised if he plays every practice game before round one. Sure we need to develop players while Fev and our other senior players are in the team, but we also need to manage the workload of our players to ensure they last the next 7 months. I have every confidence that the coaching/medical/fitness staff are carefully monitoring the workload of every player on the list.

Fev needs to play.

If the fitness staff say Fev needs to play, that's fair enough. I agree it would be preferable to have him playing. But I'd say it's probably unrealistic to play him every week until the season starts and then expect him to still be flying in August. He carries a big load for us.

And if we do need to rest him, then it provides an opportunity:

1) to get ground time into other player(s) they mightn't have otherwise received it; and
2) gives the team experience playing without Fev - which, you never know, we might need to draw upon in a game for premiership points one day (unfortunately, injuries and suspensions happen).

I'd Like to see them rest Fev and play Kruezer at FF.

Hampson and Jacobs in the ruck.

Hadley in for Yarran, Fisher in for Stevens and Austin in for Thornton. Walker I would give another week.

Wouldn't mind seeing Judd play the sweeper role and let him chase someone and run from defence. He can help down there and run straight lines, use the ball well and not get smashed around in the middle.
