Who's the better forward option?

Fisher
- excellent overhead mark
- good lead up player
- poor kick
- good tank
- poor below his knees
- ordinary defensive pressure

Wiggins
- good overhead mark
- good leadup player
- okay kick
- good tank
- okay below his knees
- good defensive pressure

That's the way I see it, so how does Fisher get games ahead of Wiggo as a forward option?

This is like comparing gold with paper. Wiggins all the way.

Now I have a hard one (keep your mind out og the gutter)

Wiggins OR Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Fev, Kruezer

The Chief gets my vote for his defensive game and also his disposal by foot and kicking over distance is substantially better.

Neither. I don't rate either of the two and think there are many ahead of them in the pecking order

Hopefully Walker can play the entire season and with the inclusion of Yarran and Robinson those three can add more flair and dimension to our forward setup.

I can't believe Fisher is in the leadership group. Barring any injuries i don't have him in our best 22 and Wiggo (love the block) but i think it will be his last

If I had to choose, it'd be Wiggins HANDS DOWN!

Fish is a rubbish player who can't kick a goal from 10m out directly in front.

Wiggins won us a few games last year which is a damn sight better than what Fisher did.

Kicked 25 goals last season. Thats an awful lot of kicks from within 10m

Not sure why people are so down on Fisher. Was clearly hampered by injury last season and at his best is easily in our best 22.

Looking forward to a big season from Fish.

 Some people are funny. Fisher is in our 22 easy.

Betts Fev Kreuzer
Fisher Cloke Yarran/Houlihan

Fisher had 60 shots at goal last year PLUS does a lot of the link work up the ground. Granted his goalkicking was rubbish last year but it was clearly evident he was hampered by an injury, just couldn't get the power through the ball when kicking and shanked a few as a result. The previous year his kicking for goal was very good.

Contested marks are gold in todays footy, you don't drop players who can take multiple contested marks in any game especially if they are still contributing well to the structures of the game plan in other areas.

Neither nor Russell.

To get to the top we need players who can do more.

My fwd line would be:

HF: Cloke/Kruezer Houlihan/Yarran
F: Betts Fevola

We will only play a 4-5 man fwd line anyway with an extra player around the middle.

Cloke and Kruezer will rotate between playing a lead up CHF role or deep in the square. Will also ruck the fwd line with Hammer playing a kick behind trying to hold the ball in. This will change a fair bit and will depnd upon conditions and match ups. Guys like Wiggins/Fisher and Russell can fill the lead up role in wet conditions or when oppositions flood. Fev will lead from the square. Gibbs, Murphy, Judd, Stevens will work forward with the flight of the ball.

We have been working on getting players back in a zone and then working forward. Effectively we will play with 7 defenders, 7 midfielders and 4 forwards.

Can't fit Wiggins in my top 22 at Carlton. He is not capable of kicking goals consistently and hurting the opposition when he has the ball, Houla has overtaken him as our half forward and Fisher can play up as our forward pocket. Another concern is his kicking to our leading forwards. Not up to scratch. Great trainer and clubman though!!!

Wiggins will be left out of the team for the first few games. We will win some and lose some. Maybe even lose a game or two we should win. Then Wig will get recalled and we will be on fire and get on a winning streak.

I dont have any stats to back this up but we seem to win more games with Wig playing . Doesnt matter if he plays well or not.

Think fisher will be a better player this year or at least seem a better player as we will win more games than last.

Go Blues!

Fish poor below his knees? If he's poor, Fev must be abysmal or catastrophic!
Fish is looking good. His elbow is giving him no problems and he carved Waitey up in the match simulations today.
Dont write him off yet.

..don't judge the Fish on last year, our forward line was shonky and he wasn't at full fitness.. ..now, fitness wise i'm not sure how much of that effected his goal kicking accuracy, but plenty of our players missed goals that Should have been kicked.. ..we notice it more with Fish cos he had that many more opportunities.. ..but i dare say he's our best contested mark, by a fair margin too.. ..as for comparing him to wggins, i don't think they're similar players for comparison.. ..and who-ever said Fish is poor below his knees needs to watch the last couple of seasons again, the Fish is a better than avg crumber, his main flaw (aside from kicking distance/accuracy this season) is that he's easily pushed off the ball/knocked to the ground..

Fisher has a lot more to offer than wiggo. I'd personally like to see fisher playing closer to goal, filling the hole behind Fev when he leads up. Fish also gives a bit of security to the mids, coz they know they dont have to pinpont a pass to get him the footy. Give it some air and let fish go for the 1 on 1 overhead mark.

He has a good tank, and is a good lead-up option. But anyone with mitts like that should be playing nice and close to goal if you ask me. And with his lack of penetration with his kicking, i think it is safer having him play close to the goals.

I think he can be a 40 goals a season forward if played closer to home. Combine that with Fev, betts kicking 30+ and some more goals from our mids, plus houlihan and yarran to be pretty effective at half forward, and it looks pretty good down there.
