I know this has been done ad nauseum, but I am so sick of hearing about Cotchin in the media I just wanted to bring it up once more. I just can't help but wonder which way we should have gone. I appreciate what we have in Kreuzer and we are not going to see his best for a few years yet, but every time ( and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME) the name Cotchin is mentioned, it is is always in reference to him being close to if not the best youngster in the land. Did we pass up on Chris Judd? Is he going to be the one that got away? I know only time will tell, but at times I just can't help but feel that we have passed on an out and out match winning superstar for a bloke who has a great attitude and will be a very good solid contributor.......... are the media warping my thoughts? |

Yes they most definitely are warping your thoughts. Cotchin is a star agreed but Gibbs will be better and Murph hopefully just as good. When think about it, superstar ruckmen are harder to come by than superstar mids and Kreuzer may turn out to be the best big man we've seen. There aren't too many first year bigmen that have performed so well (reiwoldt and J. Brown included) and I think Kreuz has so much improvement in him that we will be reaping the rewards in years to come. |

Don't know how Cotchin will go this year with not much of a pre season. |

better than the no pre-season he had last year i dunno. Its harder to see the results early as a big man than a mid. I'm not usually the chicken little type, but this one seems to get me in a fluster I think its the thought of Richmond supporters (and i have far too many tiger friends) actually being right about the shit they spurt. they always spurt it but I can't ever remember not having the last laugh. Kreuzer/Cotchin is fearful territory for me. ![]() |

big call but kruzer will have a carrer that will rival sticks IMO. he wont be used as a ruck much i dont reckon, more like a Paul Salmon style big forward that no one knows how to man up. sort of our version of buddy frankin - only without the figjam attitude. ohh plus he can kick straight. |

We made the right choice people. On top of the clear talent Kreuz showed in his first year of senior footy, also imagine how much more desperate we'd be in the key forward/ruck department. He was the best player, and was also the one we NEEDED the most. |

Rather a great player who wins a flag than a superstar who doesn't. And that's at the absolute worst. We'll have both in kroooooze |

I rate Cotchin ninth best out of the two. |

Ratts on 3AW Sports Tonight said that Kruz ran the PP track in 11.05. Not bad for a 200cm ruckman coming off an interupted pre-season after his hip operation. Gerard Healy and Tony Shaw were very impressed with the bigman's time. |

Matthew Kreuzer has so much upside in his Physical development. Cotchin is already man child ala Shannon Hurn. He aint going to get any taller and weighing mid 80KG he aint gonna get that much heavier/stronger. Kruezer on the other hand has another 10-15KG of meat to put on his frame and is already playing in positions like the Ruck/CHF which are widely considered 2 of the hardest to master. In my humble opinion Kruezer will be the best of our number 1 picks. He is the most exciting prospect I have seen in a Carlton Guernsey since Lawrence Angwin. 200cm guys that have his mobility/skill & general football smarts don't come around all that often. In regard to Cotchin I think he will be a good 200 game midfielder for the Tigers like Deledio will be but Kruezer is the type of player that you build a premiership side around. To all those who are worried we selected the wrong player one of the greatest bands ever - Public Enemy summed it up perfectly "DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE" |

Different builds , different types of players . Both will be big guns in the AFL during the next 10 plus seasons . I'm very happy we have Kruise . He's what we need . |

Gee that's good to watch. Thing is - we need 2 Kreuzers...one in the Ruck - one at CHF. |

He is a Rolls-Royce - does everthing perfectly and with a minimum of fuss. ![]() I believe will spend a lot of time at Forward Pocket with occassional bursts at CHF and in the Ruck this season. But long term I believe he can be a 10 year CHF at Carlton. |

I can just imagine our friends at Punt Road reading this thread. Guys, let it be known that we are very happy with the Krooz as you should be happy with Cotchin. But by careers end, Krooz will have three DAY Premiership Medallions around his neck. ![]() |
